Sitting at 484 a piece, Marner and Matthews are 53 points back of (10) Rick Vaive and 76 points back of (9) Ted Kennedy for Top 10 in the Leafs all time points leaders.

Realistically possible that both end up in the top 10 by seasons end. Will be fun to follow over the course of this season and possibly next.

Matthews is already eighth is goals, and could be fifth by season's end. He needs 25 to catch Frank Mahovlich and George Armstrong, and three more to tie Rick Vaive.

Marner is already eighth in assists, and may catch Tim Horton for seventh before the year is over. He needs 11.

If they finish their careers here they will be 1 and 2 on that list.
No doubt. Bigger question is, who finished first and who finishes second:sarcasm:

i say Marner, no real reason, just a feeling

Assuming they stick around, they'll be the leaders in playoff scoring too. None of means squat though without some playoff success, hopefully this is the year they start leading the team in that direction.

We're witnessing some of the best ever to play for the Leafs. Hopefully we can all take a step back and really take it in.

It's sad for the "fans" who claimed to have not watched last season or not watch this season. Like sure, don't watch if you want but don't claim to be a Leafs fan while shunning the best rosters we've arguably ever had.

LOl. It's hard to take the guys seriously who post here about how they're not watching. You don't watch, but you post here, yeah OK.

Cant believe Kaberle is 11th.

Really gutted Sundin didnt get 1000 pts as a Leafs.

Also surprised AM only played 20 games less than MM, always thought AM missed more games due to injuries.
Both of them should pass Rick by season's end barring any injuries.

I can't believe Kaberle is the 11th top point getter on the leafs. Wow.
One of the smoothest D I’ve ever watched in a leaf’s uniform.

Matthews and Marner are incredible and I love watching this team. Even if I get a little bipolar when they go on a loosing streak.

*also honourable mention to Morgan Rielly, 5th overall for leafs Dmen.

Matthews is going to shatter is but there will always be a part of me that wants Sundin's record to stand so our goal leader can stay 420, because it makes me laugh when I see it.

In the 1921-22 season, the top ten players (points) varied from 1.00 to 1.88 ppg.

In the 1-2 seasons of each decade, they were:
1921-22 - 1.00-1.88
1931-32 - 0.81-1.10
1941-42 - 0.85-1.17
1951-52 - 0.73-1.23
1961-62 - 0.89-1.20
1971-72 - 1.04-1.75
1981-82 - 1.36-2.65
1991-92 - 1.24-2.05
2001-02 - 0.95-1.18
2011-12 - 0.96-1.45
2021-22 - 1.24-1.54

Five of the top seven Leafs in games played (Armstrong, Horton, Keon, Ellis, and Pulford) spent most of their careers playing in the low scoring 50s and 60s.

The other two are Sundin and Salming.

Kaberle is eighth in games played, so maybe it's not that surprising he's eleventh in points.

To me the more impressive one is Ted Kennedy. Only 15th in games played, and in a low scoring era, but still ninth in points.

How about Tim Horton leading in +/-, despite that only being tracked for less than ⅔ of his career?

Considering how old and storied this franchise is, looking at that list of basically Toronto's "best ever" is really depressing.

True. And TBH, over the last 50+ years, there isn't much that isn't depressing.

If it was up to me, I wouldn't create any threads that even remotely resemble bragging, and I definitely wouldn't create any threads talking about how good the team/players are at regular season this or that. Without playoff success, it all means absolutely nothing. Let's win a few rounds this season, then all individual accomplishments will be a nice cherry on top but as long as we keep losing, any individual numbers are just a reminder of how depressing it is that this team has done squat in the playoffs (other than massively underachieve). JMHO.

Even with only half as many playoff rounds each year as now, eight of the top nine Leafs in playoff games were from the 60s (Domi is the other).

Part of that is because there is more movement now, but still....
