interesting young RD.
Jets need a scoring top 6 center and want to save the cap space at the TD for one

CBJ have soured on him... their PP isn't good just like the Jets yet he isn't really deployed as a weapon. The Habs 2nd (which is a top-40 pick) is probably on the higher end of his value.

A 2nd round pick sounds like an absolutely massive overpayment to me.

Boqvist is a soft, bottom-pairing Powerplay Specialist. And not on an ultra cheap contract for what he is either. He's also not really a "special" PP Specialist. He's just, decent there and maybe better than other options for some teams. But if you're bringing in a specialist, i'd want more sizzle. Especially to overcome his major deficiencies at 5v5 and lack of any real valuable PK utility, which is the much harder unit to staff with enough quality bodies that you're willing to put in harms way.

*Edit. He also probably has a broken face/jaw at the moment.

I wouldn't accept a 2nd rounder from Columbus' perspective. I probably wouldn't trade Boqvist.

This is a player that has gotten consistently better over the last few years, yet went from getting gifted ice time he wasn't ready for to getting scratched when he was one of the better D on the team. He started the year as a scratch and it's taken them a while to figure out that he's much more ready for the job than Jiricek is. Our FO has a record of obsessing over their fancy new toys, and Boqvist isn't new enough anymore, even though he's much better now that he's matured.

He's been paired with Werenski lately and they've outscored opponents 9-3. So I think they might as well keep that going and let him show what he can do over the course of the season. It's also pretty much unanimous on HF Columbus that Boqvist is the best PP QB, so they should give him those minutes.

Not a good fit for the Jets. Heinola can play RD as well or better, and they have a really good young RD prospect in Salomonsson. The 2024 2nd will be around #37 overall, which is too much for Boqvist, from the Jets perspective.

CBJ havent soured on Boqvist at all. Early I think they may have been getting to that point but off and on he's been Columbus' best D in all scenario's. Ive actually loved his game this year even if the health concerns are building

Glad to see your perspective has changed on Boqvist.

I complete agree btw, he's been improving and I think he's underrated as a puck mover.
