If we had a full season, Jeff Carter would be on pace to score 50 goals for the Kings.

When was the last time we had a 50 goal scorer?

What a great trade Dean made for Carter.

No ya see its a illusion, the guy only scores meaningless goals. For example this season if we played a full season he would only have 48 meaningless goals and that looks good on paper and sure, you might win more games but you would find the victories to be less than satisfying. Meaningless.

I wonder how badly Philly wants to welcome back Carter?

;)

They probably don't.Voracek was just named first star of the week and has been lighting it up. Plus they got Couts.
They are happy.
Only team that can/should be pissed is Columbus as Carter did not do any of this for them, and Johnson is now injured.

Glad the stupid talk of our 1st that we sent Columbus possibly turning into MacKinnon died down.

To bad they couldn't have waited another 6 months to hire Keka though, now that pick will likely become something very good regardless of where it lands.

If any team deserves to have good picks it is the blue jackets their fans have been through hell.
Besides looks like they will be playing in the East next year so I hope the build a contender.

Totally agree they do deserve it.

I just thought it was insanely dumb for our fans to think we'd finished last or second last in the standings.

As well, while they do deserve it, they've been through 13 years of terrible draft picks, I'd have been fine with them going one more draft and blowing it on our pick too :sarcasm:

93-94: Luc Robitaille scored 44 goals.

In 1998-99 he got 39, and that's the closest anyones been since 1993-1994.

The last 30 goal guy we had was 2009-2010, Anze Kopitar.

Palffy would have been a 40-goal scorer had he been healthy a full season.

What fans are you speaking of? Most Kings fans don't even know we gave our #1 draft pick away. If your talking about the handful of guys on this board who throw their hands up every time the Kings lose more than 1 game in a row they always want to point out even more negatives well that will never change.

10 year old's think we can get Carter for Loktionov and a 4th round pick but the rest of us know you have to give up talent to get talent. Carter was not happy in Columbus. The Jackets did the best they could do and by getting J.J. and a 1st round pick for Carter it is not bad deal.

Lastly is it not amazing what being in great shape (Carter) will do for people? When your in shape everything is better not just elite athletes but for the everyday person too.

Of Palffy's 5 seasons as a King, only twice was he on pace for 40+ goals. In 2000-01, he scored 38 in 73 games, and the following year he had 32 in 63 games. So 43 and 42 goal paces respectively. While on pace for a 40 goal season, it wasn't a guarantee in either case.

Yeah, I wasn't talking about all Kings fans, just those chicken little, 'the sky is falling' types. Sorry to blanket label all Kings fans.

Cammalleri 34 goals in 06-07.

umm.. and?

Balanced scoring and defense is the recipe for winning in the NHL. :)

indirectly, we have voynov to thank for getting carter, voynovs play made jj tradeable.
so with all the awesome things that voynov has do for us this year, we can also thank him for our one true sniper on the team.

Agreed, but I do wonder why we couldn't land one 40 goal scorer in 18 seasons and counting now.

And yes, we have had guys who were close (Palffy, Robitaille) and have guys now who have that talent level (Carter), so it's not a huge deal to me or enything, just a mild curiousity. I wonder if any other team in the league has gone that long without a 40 goal guy. That is a long time. A baby born the day Luc scored his 40th in 1994 would have been able to vote in the last election.
