Expecting to be pretty bummed. I live in Seattle and do an annual hockey vacation with my Rangers friend here. Was thinking the game in Arizona this weekend would be the first late season meaningful game we attend in years. I’d be shocked if fans are still attending games by then.

On another note, expect a low drop from lost revenue. I’d project it stays the same and doesn’t rise.

What is really pissing me off is we have a Disney trip planned in 3 weeks, who knows what it will be like then and if flights and/or the park will even be open. But it is literally throwing hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars in reservations, flights, clothing, misc items for the trip down the toilet.

Most disappointing is im going to have to tell my kids (5 & 9, the 5 year old has never gone and is she is so excited to see) that we arent going after planning this trip for 2 years and surprising them on Christmas with their magic bands.

There are much worse things to have to deal with in life, for sure. But man does this suck
I'm sorry man.

I live in Orlando (if that's the Disney you're referencing)... just to let you know, the airport and government here aren't exactly what I would call the bastions of intelligence and planning in the world.

Add into that, tourism is literally all we do and planes, cruise ships, etc. arrive 24/7... 365 and you can guess where things here will be heading. Rapidly.

We do have some good children's hospitals tho, but obv avoid getting to that point at all costs.

Best of luck.

Be safe out there, everyone. This disease is bad in itself. Especially if you are in the risk zone (like moi). The secondary collateral damage it may cause can be even worse. Been seeing the duality of our species, i.e. both the good and bad sides of humanity the past week while travelling. Putting myself through a self imposed 2 week quarantine that started yesterday. Feel fine though.

Events at my work have been cancelling/postponing left and right. March is usually the ramp-up into our busy season, and now...well....tumbleweeds.

We had a big all-staff video conference with the higher ups today... coworker who left early yesterday has been quarantined but not yet determined eligible for testing. Told my supervisor I'll be out until they get a professional company to disinfect the office or she's confirmed negative. :shakehead

NCAA says no crowds for Tourney. I expect the other major sports leagues to make an announcement soon, but with no specific date set for the last game with fans in attendance.

It's toughest for the NHL because it is still a gate driven league. Other leagues have monster TV deals that apparently dwarf what is received at the gate, so televising empty arenas is still worthwhile for them. The NHL- not as much.

*please don't cancel NHL crowds until after Monday please don't cancel NHL crowds until after Monday please don't cancel NHL crowds until after Monday*

Too soon..

Medical parks count as theme parks in Orlando.

NCAA hockey tournament will also have no fans. Harvard hockey has also pulled their team out completely and hand RPI a second round win in the ECAC tournament. Not to mention the Ivy League has cancelled all spring sports including lacrosse where they have multiple title contenders such as Cornell who’s the #2 team in the nation.

the hockey tourney isnt for 2.5 weeks. why are we making a decision now?

The more you do now, the less it spreads later. A two week moratorium on large gatherings and non-essential travel would go a long way to putting this behind us. But dollars.

At this point I’ll be shocked if the NHL doesn’t insititute a similar protocol as the NBA did by the end of the week

Guess I’m not going to the game Wednesday lol
