First, we are acting as if all of these numbers are accurate. Second, you realize this thing has been running amok throughout NYC. This thing wasn’t getting contained. So many factors go into something like this such as testing, geography, and our countries inability to follow rules.
Why wouldn't they be accurate?

What is this, a worldwide conspiracy to make the US look bad?

Why bother with context and reference? Just google image “corona virus chart” and select whatever graph reinforces the point your trying to make.
I don't care which side of the aisle people are on, but people need to get the facts right or don't bother with any of this

Ok.

Go ahead and find me a chart that says this isn't a unique problem in the US.

They might be accurate. They might not be. I don’t blindly believe everything I read on the internet. If I need a link to post a trade, then we should probably reference something as serious as this.

I'm just going to keep posting this in response to every "this was unavoidable" comment.

I'm not someone who blames Trump for all of lifes problems like so many in this country but I think he definitely deserves blame for not jumping on this earlier. He did have a somewhat disinterested attitude about 2-3 weeks ago and could have done more. I still can't believe with what is going on right now that we still have plenty of states with no mandatory stay at home policy. There are people still congregating in churches and other large gatherings as the numbers explode. I don't understand this idiocy. I have gone out twice in the last 2 1/2 weeks to go food shopping and that's it. My income has been greatly affected since the shutdown began and if I have to do this another 2 months because these assholes aren't doing their part I'm going to blow a gasket.

It's in the OP and has been cleared for official use in this thread.

John Hopkins stats are not a study and the continual irresponsible socialistic behavior of people isn’t a one person’s fault.

China is a farce, they 'reported' 2500 dead in wuhan, yet delivered 40,000+ urns full of ashes
Even if China did fudge the numbers, 2 billion is a hell of a lot more than we have.

Any notion that the US doesn't lead the world in this is a wild conspiracy theory at this point.

Considering China's population, it's probably worse per capita.

Considering we have no way to verify Chinese numbers...

I spoke to someone a couple weeks ago who is in Wuhan and they said they saw bodies burned in the streets. I think it’s fair to say we probably aren’t operating on 100% valid information here...

No of course the US leads in cases, and the situation will get terrible, but we're not going to be the worst when all is said and done about how things were handled.

there were still quite a few who understood the threat and were jumped on when questioning why some continued to justify visiting their friend’s restaurant in the city and we’re on the receiving end of minor meltdowns when others said the NHL season was over. lol

I guess some did know. :thumbu:

This is the strangest hill to die on. The United States is quantifiably worse off than it should be, full stop. We can fight the semantics of quantitative and qualitative analysis to no end.

If we are number 1, 7, or 30, it doesn't change the fact that there was warning, there were capabilities for better preparation and response. The responsibility doesn't end at the top, but it most certainly starts there. And to this day, the idea that nurses, cops, and the working poor are bearing the significant weight of the actions made by those with actual power in this awful situation is without words.

You're the only one bringing up "one person."

you blame the President which is one person for the past, the present and the future of all and any behavioral actions from all Americans for a virus without a current cure.

You have yet to back down your position which speaks volumes.

Based on what?

The soaring numbers already indicate that we've handled this the worst. And now that some measures are in place, the worst of it is likely already in the books or about to be.

At what point could the outlook possibly improve?

Are you kidding? You’ve been ranting about Trump for days while ignoring every other politician and other nations involvement in this whole ordeal. It’s certainly fair to criticize Trump. I don’t think he’s done a great job here at all, but you’re definitely coming from the place of anti-Trump hysteria.

It wasn't in the city though. It was in my town in Dutchess county.

I've yet to back down because I'm right.

I'm not blaming ONLY the president. Show me where I said that.
