You really believe that? Take a look outside... everyone knows - a lot of people are still going out. I’m not going to contend that Trump did everything right, but it’s a tough balancing act to to inform people without causing mass hysteria. You bash this country while China caused this thing and lied about the impact and numbers over and over again. Trump wanted a travel ban to China and Schumer said it was xenophobic and racist. We don’t have Kings or Emperors in this country.
Bingo, nailed it. Machinehead wants everyone to be forced in their homes which i'm sorry just is not realistic. How do you enforce that, do we start arresting everyone? Well they will just be released since we have no bail in NY so that won't do any good except waste the cops time. Like you said, there has to be a balancing act with everything.

You are right, Florida is going be in trouble and it has a lot of people 65+.
At least it's pretty much always summer in Florida. That might take the edge off a little bit.

The problem is that people already infected travel there (because we're allowing travel, yay!) and while the heat and humidity can kill it outside the body, it can't heal the sick.

how? Drones? Fines? The small percentage are everywhere. Heck, it’s not even warm yet after a very mild winter so these people haven’t been inside for months. Wait until the weather hits 70+.

Seriously. Cops and EMS are running people back and forth to the hospital all day long. Anyone seriously expects them to stop hospital transports and instead go write tickets to people in the park or overcrowding at a supermarket? It’s not realistic at all.

We can't keep blaming China. We're about to have triple the cases China ever did. This is our problem now.

China should be blamed. This isn't the first time the world has had to deal with a serious health issue that has originated there. BTW do you really believe China's numbers? I don't.

I call my 85 year old mom in Boca every day. Today, she said to me so somberly, " this is going to be how my life ends". That was tough to hear her say as she's normally a positive person.

More people would stay home if:

a) There were national shutdown standards. We don't have to arrest everyone who's not home. I don't want that and I never said I wanted that. But airports should be closed nationwide. Churches should be closed nationwide. Schools should be closed nationwide.

b) If the president acted like this matters. He's still telling people it's just gonna go away. Based on his rough rolling approval ratings, if he's on tv saying this isn't a problem, you can count at least 4 in 10 Americans thinking this isn't a problem.

So the species is just less stupid in all the other countries on the chart?

This is the epicenter. In a hundred years, historians will call this the American Virus. This is our problem. Something went wrong here that didn't go wrong in other places.

We get it, you blame one person lol.

All those roaming the streets and socializing tomorrow, go shout from the trees “it’s not your fault, you didn’t know so you have an excuse to continue down this road”.

If we only had a leader, we could have stopped nature from a virus we have no cure for like other countries who have been honest about their stats.

The President of the United States should be held accountable for the worst disaster in this country maybe ever. Wow. Imagine that.

It’s not about blaming China. Blaming someone solves nothing. It’s about taking as realistic approach to combat this problem as possible. You make a lot of very broad declarations - most of which are unrealistic and come across as hysterical rantings. Could the government have done more? Sure, probably. Were we going to avoid this pandemic? Not bloody likely. It sounds like you’re able to stay home throughout this situation, but a lot of us have to work anyway. Ranting, raving, and what if’s as if you’re a medical professional don’t help anyone.

for a virus without a current cure. Makes sense SMH

meanwhile, all the people who continue to socialize get a pass.

american media; famous for only caring about the truth

Nobody was going to avoid this but the United States is lapping the field.

It's not unrealistic or hysterical to suggest that the f***ing president is accountable for that.

I think most of us realize that this was already here. There is no way we were avoiding this think. How many people came through JFK alone before we even knew this existed.

My aunt (who watches Fox all day along with my uncle) told my mom today that Trump is doing an amazing job. Amazing job. Jeez, Trump could shoot someone on 5th avenue and no one would care.
Right? He said that, what now, five years ago? He told us on stage exactly how his presidency would go.

Now, almost a full term into it, people still think it's some kind of SNL skit and Donald Trump isn't really Donald Trump.

He told us himself what was going to happen.

I'm just going to keep posting this in response to every "this was unavoidable" comment.

Using your stats, 4 out of 10 Americans also will blame one person for all their issues and not be accountable for any of their actions. The other 6 are shaking their heads b/c they know it’s not one person’s fault.

The real victims are those who are on the front line who fall victim.

First, we are acting as if all of these numbers are accurate. Second, you realize this thing has been running amok throughout NYC. This thing wasn’t getting contained. So many factors go into something like this such as testing, geography, and our countries inability to follow rules.

~40% of this is NYC. How much culpability does De Blasio have here?
A lot from what I heard. One morning he told everyone to go see a movie. That afternoon the NBA cancelled their season.

I'm not sure how this guy has a chance of getting reelected. Same with DiSantis when Florida gets massacred because of his ineptitude.

A lot.

De Blasio sat and waited for things to rage out of control before he closed schools. And he needed Cuomo to hold his hand on the parks.

And Cuomo should have held his hand sooner.

A lot of people are accountable for this and I never said I was blaming one person. But one person happens to the be the president and the president happens to be important.
