Stores wouldnt be able to get shipments if that happened right? Trucks wouldnt be able to come and go outside the quarantine zone right? People would really be buying out stores.
No, essential services like food and whatnot would still operate as normal.

It likely end up with something like super heavy military/police monitoring of citizen travel and requiring papers/codes to travel for X amount of hours to do food shopping or something essential. Otherwise you get ticketed/fined/etc. I believe that's how it's operating in some of the Euro lockdowns?

They aren't going to lock down people totally away from necessities. Obviously logistics would need to be planned, but it would be a much stricter "shelter-in-place" IMO

The mistakes that turned New York into an epicenter of the coronavirus epidemic

I have been highly critical of Trump but I have never been a fan of DeBlasio either. Fair warning there are a good amount of Giuliani quotes in there. That guy lost his marbles years ago.
Oh, yeah. I wish more people would be critical of leaders in their own parties in normal times, and it's especially important in the current circumstance. So, as a progressive, let me say:

BDB is f***ing awful.

Quarantine orders in many cases end up being counterproductive. If you tell people (or give the impression that one is pending), people tend to move/flee instead of the intended action, stay put.

Yeah, if anything the time for a full quarantine was a few weeks ago. Now...it's not going to be as effective.

Ah gotcha, thanks for clarifying. Feel like it’s just going to be a matter of time till it does happen..

I remember reading that something like 5 million people fled the province where Wuhan is located before the deadline after it was announced it would be locked down.

Announcing a quarantine can be like throwing water on a grease fire.

This is my neighborhood. Very happy to see it deserted. We may need to resort to drones to enforce shelter in place orders. Drastic I know but what is the alternative?

Drone footage shows Newark Avenue in Jersey City almost completely empty due to COVID-19 | Hudson County View

side note, the 99cent store was punished for price gouging. We paid like $8 for some Clorox wipes there last week.
That used to be my neighborhood - last place I lived in the area before a mutliple time cross country saga that eventually saw me settle in the DC area. Amazing how much that area around Grove St. has changed over time, and good to see people obeying the rules. Stay safe!

Anyone here self employed and try applying for unemployment under the new relief package?

I'm trying not to read this thread because it's not fun right now, but I do want to share this. Very important on how to protect yourself AND this might bring a few people off the ledge. Very important watch:
