hi everyone

my wife's best friend is here (NYC) on a J-1 visa on an exchange program working for a Dinex Group restaurant. They just closed all of their chains for at least 6 weeks due to the virus. She has to leave the country and will be out a very significant amount of money if she does not find employment in 30 days. Her specialty is baking but she will take any place that will host her J-1 so if you know anyone or of anywhere that can help please please DM me.

I really appreciate your help

Not sure how people that are taking all the possible precautions can be served by massive panic. But you do you.

The constant fear mongering is causing a serious problem. Everybody who has a cold or cough or allergies when in normal times they wouldn't think twice about it, now think they have the virus which in nearly every case this just isn't true. I wish there was a system where people could get tested in a quicker and more efficient manner to alleviate the fear.

It would be nice if people would post something reassuring once in a while...

Panarin built a birdhouse and lifted it as a SC - that’s pretty uplifting IMO!

Jersey now has 2 towns under night curfew (Hoboken and Asbury Park)

Can somebody explain this to me? What the hell is the point of forcing everyone home at 10 pm when that's the time you see the least people out in the first place. If you implemented a curfew to keep crowds low, wouldn't you be doing that at 9 am or 6 pm??

This one makes absolutely no sense

Considering everyone in this thread except for one person who probably won't change his mind anyway is a) worried and b) practicing caution, knowledge isn't power, it's there to cause fear and panic.

Basically every other country has a better system than us. And considering we are one of the later regions in the world to be hit, it shouldn't have been hard to devise such a system before it got to this point.

I’m not advocating panic. Not by a long shot. I am advocating for, and hoping beyond hope, that those with the power to do so get this thing under control before it’s too late. People should not be panicking. People should not be running to the store to hoard TP and hand sanitizer. But the government should be seeing what’s happening and doing everything it can to keep people inside, putting a moratorium on their bills, and making people realize that being stuck inside an American home in 2020 is not such a bad deal.

I just found out this morning that we could get quarantined at work if needed. (since we aren't allowed to shut the gates).

Government wasn't up to the task of getting tests ready.

From the BBI Giants message board. No idea if this is true but

“Holy name hospital in NJ is reporting 11 covid cases, all males between 28-48. 6 out of those 11 are in the ICU.. this comes directly from a doctor at the hospital.”

Breadman building a birdhouse during the pandemic. When he otherwise would be hockeying. Surreal. Lol

Maybe if you don't know if it's real it shouldn't be posted.
