I think he’s off comparing Catton and Celebrini. Flip them.

I like the Skahan take. I think he’s very good, and is going to push his way into the first half of the first round.

He’s also on point about Hagens vs. Misa.

He is also well uninformed in my opinion. In 2025 especially.

5 out of 6 are late birthdays and the other is an exceptional staus forward.

Should treat it as more of a “These guys are draft eligible in these years“

Rather than a ranking.

Absolutely, that’s the problem with doing a ranking when you don’t have all the knowledge necessary.

Making a 2025 "ranking" this far out is just an impossible task and dumb inclusion in the article IMO. Would rather see him highlight more names from 2024. Just make a note about Hagens and Misa at the end if you want to include an excerpt on how great they've looked. I will say I think all six players he listed in that group are very promising though

He literally says in the article... " These are only the players I’ve seen so far this season, so this isn’t a complete look at the upcoming draft classes"

I have no problem with him doing rankings like this with a caveat like this

What are the six names he lists for 2025?

It’s his job to watch hockey and write about it. Many of us have seen more 2025 draft talent than that. He should watch more.

Top-5

#2: D Artyom Levshunov - Belarus

Due to well-known events, we can lose a lot of talented young people, Belarus does not participate in international tournaments, and naturally, no one can appreciate their potential at the international level. I know that scouts from NHL clubs came to Belarus even before the war, looked at the local championship, and were impressed. Dan Milstein took it to North America to develop it somehow.

I admit that I haven't watched him play but for a Dman he has an interesting stat line in the USHL this season at Green bay.

The Belarus U18 was becoming very competitive! Some real nice players and results there. Should've translated to U20 but then well known events got in the way. I thought they were a nation rising up a little based on U18.

If he admits its an incomplete look at the 24 and 25 class he shouldn't have made it a ranking, but a bunch of blurbs about who's projected to be the top prospects imo. People love to read lists on the internet though.
