I don't think Edmonton is looking to move Emberson. As for Murphy, I'd have to watch a couple of Hawks games to see how he is playing. At first glance, it seems like quite a bit for Murphy, but it is double retained, for a guy with an extra year left, and in a market that doesn't seem to have a whole lot of stock (top four D) and plenty of buyers. The price probably isn't far off from what some of these guys are going to go for in this market.

If Bowman can fleece himself yet again and take a 26 1st for Murphy @50% retained then I'd be all for it. I'd add one of our 2nd rounders too if need be.

I'd do a 2nd + B prospect for Murphy at 50% at the deadline. Zero chance I'd do a 1st.

Something I feel is being overlooked is Murphy is a really good PK RD. That's lacking on the Oilers. Now while the most ideal D partner for Nurse is a Rasmus Andersson type, they are expensive and rarely available. Murphy is an very good secondary option.

After Provorov and Pettersson are moved guys like Connor Murphy might be the best realistically available guys.

Does anyone know if Edmonton is looking to move Emberson?
He’s taken so many steps this season, I don’t think we consider it. He was an analytical darling last year and he’s cheap on the cap. It’s someone we keep for 3rd pair to see if he can continue to grow. If a perfect guy hit the market, a developed and bonafide Right hand D maybe we include in a swap.

Feels like a pairing that wouldn't get pinned in the defensive zone more often than not.

Wouldn't it be better with a 2-way D who can move the puck better than Murphy?

Also feels like a big overpayment IMO.
