You want the reality? GSAx or whatever its called doesn't mean shit. They try to arbitrarily make some shots worth more than others, but reality is thats impossible. Worthless stat that Hellebuyck just happens to milk

Show me a better stat, bro. You know, the stat that demonstrates that Hellebuyck is bad or whatever the heck you're jibbering about.

yall are overreacting,
2 goals were deflections right outside the blue paint, there isnt a goalie thats stopping those
2 goals were blues player driving alone to the net, you can argue he should have had these but Jets D also deserves some criticism here
No one is saying the Jets D don't deserve criticism. But the Blues D also made some awful breakdowns that Binnington stopped. Binnington also stopped deflections and fought off screens.

Its called watching the games, try it sometime

If your conclusion after watching the games played by regular season Hellebuyck is that he isn't a great regular season netminder, you should probably work on your understanding and/or your processing of what you just watched.

Notice that his only applies to regular season Hellebuyck.

4.42 and a .815??? Holy shit that is shockingly bad. Hope he can win game 7 and get this playoffs monkey off his back. He's an amazing goalie but playoff Helle is scary.

He's jibbering something about Hellebuyck being a bad goalie and that it's the fault of "advanced stats" for misleading everyone about it. Absolute tosh.

I could see these playoffs runs coming a mile away based on regular seasons

So the jets defense is so gidly that if they had a better goalie that goalie would put up league record sv% of 950?

Ppease. And you dont watch the games in winnjpeg if you claim hellys career is propped by good defense cuz winnipeg had a garbage fire of no name players at defense for many years of hellys career until recently.

And helly faces these same playoff teams during the regular season and does fine against them there. Hes just not playjng at that level now.

Thing i hate about hockey forums is these self professed experts that probably watch 2 games the opposition plays total and now think they are more knowladgable than all analysts coaches statisticians former player etc that studied the game for years. Or the ones who just like to argue that shit for fun or think thats what being a roval hockey fan is about is to claim rival team player bad against all stats. Its 2nd grade mentality

I live here. One of my buddies has season tickets. I've been to and seen way more games involving the Jets than I care to.

The Jets are a well coached team that plays much better than the sum of their parts in the regular season. This structure makes Hellebuyck's life easy in the regular season. But teams who play like that in the regular season rarely have that next level come playoff time, the Jets are no exception. As a result both Hellebuyck and the Jets get exposed when they have to play a series where the intensity is leveled way up

I don’t think Hellebuyck has been as bad as the stats indicate. The Blues have been either picking corners or setting screens and taking away his eyes. And almost all of the damage done has been in St. Louis. For as bad as the overall numbers look, he’s still won all three games in Winnipeg, which is where game 7 will be. Edge should still be with Winnipeg who has last change and the home crowd.

Only chance the Blues have is to sow doubt in the Jets by beating Hellebuyck early and often by doing what they’ve successfully done in STL. It wouldn’t hurt for somebody to drive by their bench either and say “you guys are f***ed”, like Maroon did to the Bruins in the Cup Final of ‘19.

Welcome to the playoffs

As a Canucks fan who wanted them to put Schneider in over Luongo in game 7 and still thinks they would have won the Cup if they did - the Jets coach needs to grow a pair and put Comrie in game 7. This could be the difference between another crushing loss or possibly a trip to to the finals. Sometimes you gotta just try something different and not worry about hurting feelings.
The Hawks pulled Crawford against NSH in 2015 and used Darling for a few games. Then they gave the net back to Corey the following series.

It’s not the end of the world and sometimes you have to do what’s best for the team. They’re sacrificing a potentially deep playoff run here by risking it with him for game 7. It’s clearly not working. This is the #8 seed Blues too, not like they’re a juggernaut 2022 Avs team.

Lmao the Jets are not a different goalie away from a deep playoff run, unless that goalie is someone like Binnington

Watching the Jets vs Blues and I am amazed how big of a choker Helleybuck is come the playoffs.

He is probably the best goalie in the NHL since 05 if you look at just regular season hockey.

However, in the playoffs he just sells games and isn't stealing anything for the Jets besides their chances to win a game.

Since 2005, is Helleybuck the worst vezina winning playoff goaltender?
He is the rich man's Dan Cloutier.

Skinner is bad in both regular season AND playoffs. Helly is vezina winner in regular season.

Skinner is only 2.6 million on the cap, Hellebuyck is 8.5 million.

Though probably there's a fair shot Helle does better in Edmonton because he would have more run support. Give up a bad goal or even two, it's not as big of a deal when you have nuclear bombs upfront like McDavid and Draisaitl who bring it in the playoffs, so that would likely help him a lot.

Jets were a bit unlucky to face the Blues who were a .767 team in their last 30 games. If Blues wins game 7, this will be seen as a massive choke job when in reality I don't think it is as bad as the standings suggests. Sort of reminds me of 2018-19 Blues.
Tough draw but it’s a deep playoff field this year and there weren’t really any easy outs. IMO that save percentage wouldn’t be acceptable regardless of the opponent.
