Watch the Sabres trade Levi for Hellebuyck in a desperate attempt to finally make the playoffs lol

I mean hey, that might work. When you're a team that's been missing the playoffs for several years (I would know very well about this being a Utah/Arizona fan), sometimes what you end up having to do is do whatever it takes just to get there in the first place, and worry about how to win once you get there by having an attitude of "we'll just figure that one out later."

Winnipeg's top 3 defencemen are soft, every other defenceman is genuinely bad. It's not on Hellebuyck.

This is purely a regular season team that doesn't face any scrutiny because Canadian NHL teams, except Toronto, are held to extremely soft standards.

If advanced stats are a farce, then all stats are a farce. What stats you like better for regular season Hellebuyck? You've invented new ones to expose him for the supposed fraud he is?

Get outta here.
Look at playoff ga/g and sv %. That is all you need to see to determine a team can’t rely on Hellebyuck.

the contracts, career trajectory and expectations are heavily slanted to Skinner here, he's a guy who makes 2 mil, was a back up that was thrusted into the starter job, lost it. Comparing him to someone like Hellebyuck who has a Vezina trophy and a nomination this season and another playoff implosion, hasn't won anything in his pro career.

The anwser is clearly Hellebuyck. This is a guy who should be near the top based on expectations and never lives up to them in the playoffs.

I was just responding to the title, so that's what my answer is based on. I was lazy and skimmed the "worse (sic) Vezina winning goalie" part and was rightfully called out on that by someone else.

My argument was based on the subject title alone and the fact that one guy had played great in four series (between 2018 and 2021), and shit the best in about the same number of series after. The other guy played great in one series (Dallas) and had implosions in four rounds out of seven in his entire playoff career.

At no point do contracts, career trajectory, and expectations change anything about their stats or performances. I know you seem to care about his feelings on the 0.001% chance that he'll actually read anything we write about him here, but Skinner wasn't any less of a shitty goalie because he wasn't supposed to be the starter or makes less money. He still received the same opportunities as any other starter, and he's being judged as such. And until today he was below Hellebuyck in GSAx per 60 in the entire playoffs.

Now...yeah, Hellebuyck is inarguably the worst goalie of the entire playoffs. Absolutely insane to even believe but it's happening and it's not a small sample size anymore: the guy is a massive playoff choker who is night and day between the regular season and the postseason. This has to be unprecedented.

As a Canucks fan who wanted them to put Schneider in over Luongo in game 7 and still thinks they would have won the Cup if they did - the Jets coach needs to grow a pair and put Comrie in game 7. This could be the difference between another crushing loss or possibly a trip to to the finals. Sometimes you gotta just try something different and not worry about hurting feelings.

Didn't think someone would manage a worse performance than Stuart Skinner.
Get this, we have posters in the EDM board who are pi**ed Skinner is not playing lol. Just stopped posting after game 4 and 2 Pickard wins. We have some special people on our board. At leats Helly has a good reg season resume to think he can step it back up.
