Anyone who said Cassidy had to go really misses the point of who the problem is, yes is because they are still here, in the Bruins' organization. The problem wasn't the coach. It never was the coach. It's the front office of Sweeney and Neely, as well as the boy's club mentality they allowed to fester in this team. These two knuckleheads have done everything but look in the mirror for the problems with the team. Whether it has been drafting low ceiling players like Jake DeBrusk who can't take coaching, never being able to hit on anything in free agency, always dumping away futures to extend a nonexistent window at the trade deadline, whittling your scouting department down to a nub and filling it with ex players from the 90s and 2000s teams, not allowing the coach to change the coaching staff, or even not doing basic homework on a problem player like Mitchell Miller. Cassidy wasn't the issue with this team. The front office was and it still is.

I'm happy for Bruce winning the cup, because it shows that when he gets support, he can put together everything else and get a team to the promise land.

Bruce "had to go" so the Bruins could lose in the first round and he could go win a cup elsewhere? Whatever helps you sleep at night.

Congrats Bruce.
Bruce did have to go and the team he has now has no holes, that's how he won a cup! Could you imagine how many games the Bruins would have lost if they had Vegas defence! DS should look at that D and fix ours!

Congrats Bruce.

The team clearly tuned him out just like Washington tuned him out and Vegas eventually will. All coaches have a expiration date. For Bruce? It was time. This forum gets selective memory with different coaches and players. Bruce was frustrating towards the end. Stubborn. And it was time to move on. If Vegas doesn't win the Cup and loses in the 1st round, are your thoughts the same?

I wish him well. Team was dominate. And it was a good team before he joined.

That's about it.

Vegas a heck of a team and Cassidy did a fantastic job

Monty coaches like Cassidy in playoffs Bruins cruise.

Cassidy did exactly what any team playing Florida should - he put pressure and stress on the Florida defense which leaks through their forwards. Montgomery didn’t do it - was too busy experimenting. Florida was 16h defense group entering playoffs for a reason - and their best and really only good defensive defenseman Ekblad had a dislocated shoulder and broken foot by the start of game 5 and the Bruins decided to not go after him with hockey plays (not to take out of game but exploit)

Cassidy kept focus and on winning- Monty got caught up in the All Time Team and was talking about getting caught picking his nose in TV, and experiments with lines and players in ESPN meeting with analyst Sean McDonagh. Just brutal

Cassidy had to go and he landed on his feet and then some

Life is one big lesson with twists and turns and this past 13 months Hockey wise play was like a Netflix show.

This thread will be a fun look back at who posts and tells us how smart they are. They are rested up after 6 months in hibernation

Congrats to Cassidy, always a great interview, honest. His shelf life wore out and LV jumped on a great coach. Just like FLA, DAL did. All 3 reclamation coaching projects did well this year.

The one of the big differences was having a goalie(Hill) come in from the cold, healthy, with nothing to lose.(impending UFA). He played better than their other 2 that eventually got injured. Made himself some money this summer.

Why can't we get coaches like Cassidy....oh wait. The Bruins super soft players wanted a friendly coach that would smile rather than hold them accountable and that's what they got. The regular season is a different sport in the NHL...playoffs are when real hockey and strategy starts and Monty was outcoached and was a deer in the headlights. This bruins team was old and soft. Face it. Bruins front office let the inmates run the asylum. The curse of Mitch Miller continues....
