Congratulations to everyone here.
We argue, we debate, we Ignore each other, but nothing changes that we love this Team and we want the best things to happen for our Toronto Maple Leafs.
Congrats to our young fans like my kids, who've never gotten to enjoy something like this. Only knowing disappointing and embarassing losses, being told "Leafs suck" every time. Not an easy feat to be a Leaf fan of a younger vintage, but hopefully this is the first of many sweet playoff wins and moments for you, to remind you that being True Blue also brings some amazing highs, not just heart-breaking lows.
Congrats to our old fart fans like me. Every year goes by, every disappointment, and you wonder how much more you can care, and if you are ever going to see them win. The glorious '60's, followed by the putrid 80's, the elation and heart break of the '90's and 2000's, and then a waste land of lousy teams until this group came along. Always hoping that our loyalty and passion is rewarded, wondering if this year is going that our love is rewarded and renewed with this team all over again, or are you going to be cursing yourself for loving something that just isn't any damn good for you?
No matter your age, it isn't easy being a Leaf fan. There seems so many that take all kinds of delight in any kind of Leaf loss or negative. They've always been around, but with social media, much more vocal keyboard warriors abound, with nothing good to say, and a pretty sad testament to how badly the Leafs and Leafs Nation eats away at their brain. It's kinda funny to see, but it gets tiresome too.
As much as I salute our Toronto Maple Leafs for pushing through, I salute you guys, our Leafs faithful, who bring everything, everything game. The Passion really does unite us, and while we can argue and annoy the crap out of each other, there is no fanbase with more heart or resolve than ours.
We Bleed Blue every damn day.
This joyride may very well end sooner than we'd like, but I couldn't ask to cheer our guys on with a more dedicated, delusional, and die-hard bunch of fellow gluttons for punishment.
I'm happy for us all. We've earned this. Let's enjoy it and kick whoever's ass is next.
Go Leafs Go!
