I actually had Merryweather pegged as the "underperformer", but I decided that was too easy.

Will somebody tell Vladdy to wear a tighter batting helmet? That's like the fifth time I've seen a helmet fall into his feet. I think he even stepped on it this time. He's going to dislocate an ankle.

I am not a fan of his but still need to give him a shot. He missed most of last year. It could be a confidence thing.

But yes, Espinal needs to be playing the majority of the time.
Oh, for sure, I even pegged Biggio as being the most improved, but with Espinal doing it all including good defense and the Jays being down Jansen and Hernandez, I'd rather be playing the hot hand rather than the guy whose only good asset is his eye which doesn't matter because umps keeping calling bad strikes on him. He's been pretty bad since he's been forced to swing more often.

As someone who is often irritated by all of the Buckisms and attitude towards modern analytics, I can not question his loyalty and service to the Blue Jays that even survived being fired as manager. Hope he gets better soon and we can get back to normal by the playoffs!

Side note, Siddal is a very emotional guy. He teared up talking about Buck pregame that they had to cut from him and I remember last year after we were eliminated he was tearing up talking about how proud he was of the team last year. We have a lot of good people in our organization!

After three series, it's been a solid start. Not worried about the offense especially once Teo gets back.

Losing Ryu will hurt but he hasn't been effective at all so Stripling should be fine as a fifth. The three RHP look very good. Need Kikuchi to come through and the starters will be very solid.

The once pleasant surprise has been the infield defense.

The Bullpen has also been much improved compared to the start of last year. A worse bullpen likely costs them a couple games this season so far.

Tbh you don't need a high powered offense to win in baseball. Good pitching (starting & bullpen), good defense, and timely hitting is the formula because at the end of the day, it doesn't matter if you win 2-1 or 10-0 a win is a win

Really sucks to hear about Buck. We can complain about him as a broadcaster, but as a human being you never want to hear those news. I hope he beats it and comes back soon.

Just looking ahead, the next five series are Red Sox, Astros, Red Sox, Astros, and Yankees. The last three are at home so might get some players not playing due to their vaccination status.

What a tough schedule though.

Well, if we're truly elite then we should be fine. Right? I hope the Jays fear nobody. Bring on all comers, can't control the schedule.

If Jays wanna prove they are the ones to beat in the AL this year, these next five series are gonna be massive if they can take it to these three teams to make a statement. Hopefully Teo returns very soon this lineup definitely needs him he's just too valuable

Checking in on the umpiring around the league...

Another typical 1+ run for the other team, but 68% called strike accuracy might be the worst I've ever seen
I'm starting to think the umps have decided to MAKE the argument for robot umps, themselves.
