A player with good underlying numbers will be good over long periods of time if they keep doing what they are doing.

Pillar (and Grichuk) have periods of good play but completely change their approach when they go into a slump.

They also have significant underlying flaws in their play profile that point to their hot streaks being just that instead of secretly unlocked, improved play. Pillar was a notorious hacker, swinging at all manner of junk he shouldn't have and only being "saved" from sky high strikeout numbers by the fact that he could at least connect with the ball well enough to put it in play for an out.

Not sure if this is the right place or there is another thread for this, but is anyone selling tickets for this Saturday?

Would be looking for four seats in the lower deck

There should be some available on the jays website

One thing that I've noticed is that Heineman isn't very good at calling a game. It would make sense given that he has caught the least of the pitchers (and would make the story about Collins catching every bullpen even more impressive)

He is quickly becoming useless in our roster.

But he does magic tricks

Who is the best defensive center fielder out of this group of current and former Jays:

Vernon Wells

Kevin Pillar

George Springer

Bradley Zimmer

Sorry, did not include Devon White because I never saw him play. But you can mention him if you want.

It's Devon White and not even close. They used to say water covers 3/4 of the earth, Devon covers the rest because of his range

Pillar for sure. V-dub didn't have the range and honestly should've given CF up to Rios.

For all of the great plays Devo made, it's the way he made casual catches at his chest on routine flies that I'll never forget. Just, like, "This is one's too easy, it's not even worth the effort of lifting my arm up to catch it." He was the coolest, smoothest defender I can remember seeing.

Not to mention that a lot of these plays that guys are laying out for and making "highlight reel" catches, Devo would just be galloping over there and catching them easily.

Had some flashbacks watching Pache play against us...same level of casual when catching the routine ones.

Oh yeah, that's an underrated part, too. I just looked up some Devo highlights and that was my first thought. There was one where a ball was hit into the gap and, given where he started and how far away the ball was, I thought "Oh man, this is gonna be good!" and he just reached out and caught it on the run... didn't even have to leave his feet. It might be less entertaining to watch, but it's way more impressive.

Wasn't around for those Jays years but was able to witness Andruw Jones. Only other guy I've seen make batters put their head down when hitting outfield gappers is Buxton. It's too bad he can't put together a complete year because he's a 4 win player just on defence and baserunning.

Pillar was very good

VDub has the distinction of being better and worse as a Jay. Early VDub was as close to White as we've seen.

Springer is s hustle CF. He's good but easily 4th on this list (and behind Cruz Jr fwiw).

Zimmer is hard to place so far due to limited innings and shifting. He could be anywhere from 1 to 3 on your list.
