Should Biggio be sent down to try and find his game?
Biggio has arguably been the guy that the poor umping has hurt the most. A guy who simply doesn't swing at balls isn't going to start because the ump sucks.

It's a small sample, but so far Biggio has hit more than 50% of his balls in play on the ground despite hitting the ball at a higher average angle.

Alex Speier is reporting that Kutter Crawford (what a name, BTW) will be placed on the restricted list along with Houck. No idea if that is everyone or if there are more.

With Conforto out for the season, i wonder if there is any value in signing him to a minor league deal for max he could make after the draft so you dont lose pick. Let him stay, train and use our facilities and doctors in Dunedin as a goodwill gesture. No strings attached, if he likes it and vaccination policies change, perhaps we have the inside edge to get him next offseason. If not you only lose a few thousand dollars. Might be worth the risk.

Considering he's a Boras client, there's absolutely no chance that will happen.

Well at the moment he is making $0, a couple thousand is more than $0. And your client save thousands of dollars on training, nutrition, doctors appointments etc. So the advantage is probably saving a couple hundred thousand.

I'd be more tempted to offer something like 2 years at 18M total once the draft passes, but I get the impression that Conforto might try to bet on himself next year.

I'm positive someone would give him a post-draft deal for 2023 that includes a couple million (and access to rehab facilities/resources, obviously) for 2022.

I would too but i guess without vaccination status changing, i doubt the Jays take that risk.

Very likely too. I wouldnt be against it if it didnt take away from our 2022 resources to make the team better at the deadline.

Curious to know why players who have good or great stats in the minor leagues don’t get called up before players with gawdy numbers do get called up sometimes. Why not call up the best player? I am thinking more about pitching.

Sorry I am late replying to this. If Conforto is signed next year (given that he had surgery and is out), he will not require compensation because the rule only applies to players tendered an offer who sign before the next draft (which is in July). A healthy Conforto absolutely would have gotten a pick, but given the tweet from Rosenthal, it would be stupid to offer him a deal before the draft (OTOH, making an offer right after the draft offering him some compensation this year could potentially be a smart move).

Unless I missed it that night I'm pretty certain that the Conforto news didn't come out until the next day. I was refering to if we signed Contforto right now and assumed that posted was asking the same

Not sure if it has been discussed but is anyone else annoyed by the stadium lights dimming after home runs? It's usually nice to see the celebrations and whatnot and the whole screen just gets dark for a few seconds. It might be cool in the stadium but it doesn't seem great for TV.

I actually like flashing lights paired with sound effects for home runs. Yankee Stadium with the siren and the Trop with the horn have it nailed down. I agree that the Rogers Centre lights stay dimmed for too long rather than constant flashing like those other two stadiums, but it's still fine.

Bounce back start for Thomas Hatch Sunday.
Samad Taylor is doing some gaudy things in Buffalo.
