I don't really think he deserves anything above 3 million too be honest. He is great at the pk and has good defensive skills, but he is extremely lacking in offensive ability.

Not sure who you would compare him to, but he is a smaller, less physical version of Smith who doesn't take face-offs and scores even fewer goals.

So... pay him $1.2 M less than what Smith makes... assuming Smith's cap hit is at least $2.2 M...

IMO, $3 M is a little too generous to Condra. I like him, but he's a $2 M player at most, and probably less than that.

This is what happens when you draft college players. They read real good. REAL GOOD.

Most of the guys I would compare him to that play the PK, average around 1.2M, but these guys all have twice as many goals as Condra.

I bet he gets 1.05M

I agree. I was going to edit my post to change what i said, but i already saw that you quoted me.

1. Condra is only eligible for a 1-yr arb contract as he's 1-yr away from UFA age.
2. Walk-away rights kick in at 3.5M. Condra is not going to be awarded 3.5M. If condra doesnt settle before arbitration, we're going to be stuck with whatever he gets, whether we like it or not.

condra is a better play-maker than a shooter.

1.8 mil for a forward that is extremely effective defensively and can put up around 25 points on your fourth line? not bad, i say.

Would be a really interesting arbitration hearing to sit in on.

Arguments used in typical arbitration hearings in the NHL are poor and outdated. Measures like plus/minus often used. The arguments that help Condra are all of the forward thinking variety, possession metrics and what not.

The truth is, he probably deserves to get paid a little more than most people think.

The problem is that arbitration can be a very negative process that could negatively impact our ability to re-sign him long term by damaging the player/team relationship.

If he does make it to arbitration the Sens and gets a one year deal he might just walk away into free agency

I wonder how much money condra even wants. If he wants more then 2 million, then he is delusional to think the team would pay him that much.

Condra is easily replaceable with the prospect depth we have... I mean if the Sens can't find a guy that can PK and chip in a little offense then this farm system is not what people have made it out to be.

Why in the world are people bandying about numbers like $3mil in the same sentence as condra???! If he gets more than $2mil I'll be shocked.

Can he be traded after the arbitration?

yeah.

i see 1.2 Million being a good number but i think he's shooting for around 2 over 5 - 7 years.

i don't think Ottawa wants to invest term or money into Condra.
