I ended up doing this in my spare time. If you have any questions, fire away! If you want me to do another trade tree, just ask!
In 1995 Montreal deals Patrick Roy (with Mike Keane) to Colorado for Andrei Kovalenko, Martin Rucinsky and Jocelyn Thibeault. While Rucinsky gave some good years to the Canadiens, the team as a whole never had any success in the years following this trade, and the 3 players they got were all traded away. Meanwhile, Colorado won Stanley Cups with Roy in net and dominated the late 90's, early 00's.
Thibault, who obviously couldnt replaced Roy in Montreal, is the one player who paid the more dividends. He was dealt for Hackett, who played well in Montreal, who was in turn later traded for Sundstrom, who was also good here, and a pick, which was later used (with Mathieu Garon) to acquire Radek Bonk and Cristobal Huet, two very solid players that helped the Habs finally get out of the basement in the mid/late 00's.
