Awful at everything? Comeau scored 41 goals over two seasons. :shakehead

Exactly. Comeau's production really only went down with the Flames and limited TOI and even then he seemed to up his checking game. 2G/3A in 9 games mainly on the 4th line? Plus he's cheap, why wouldn't you resign that?

I never realized Blake Comeau had so many fans. Might as well sign Brandon Yip while we're at it.:sarcasm:

this was after the CBJ pulled the comeau gallery...but doing the math sounds like 900k for him since capgeek had us at $8.99m in cap space...i say that's a pretty good signing for what he brings if true...

Kristyn Repke @kristynrepke now
Right now, the @BlueJacketsNHL have about $8 mil to work with going into Free Agency Day.

This.

And I'll add that I prefer Blake to the idea of Z, which is frightening in every respect.

Yes, who needs skill and goalscoring when you can have "jam" and "sandpaper"... I never unsderstand this attitude from cbj fans. Must be the porty influence

I wouldn't mind re-signing Comeau on a two-way contract. I don't think he'll be able to crack our lineup straight out of camp this year.

The guy played 15:55, 15:46, and 17:40 in the final games of the season (with the playoffs on the line) and he's somehow not going to be able to crack the lineup out of camp this year?

Comeau is a scrub and shouldn't be resigned.

Strange. He played some good minutes for us and produced. I think I'll have to go elsewhere for player evaluations.

I'm not saying Comeau is anything special, but he played his role extremely well.

Keep your disrespectful shakehead to yourself.

I fully expect Jarmo to land a free agent or make a trade to upgrade the lineup before camp starts. I also expect Vinny to be back. And I expect Jenner to make a challenge for the roster. Where does Comeau fit in THAT scenario?!?

Comeau doesn't fit in that scenario, but that scenario isn't going to happen. The best opportunity to improve the club through trades just came and went without any movement. Still could happen, but it's much less likely than before. We'll probably sign a free agent to replace Prospal.

People need to accept that Prospal is almost certainly gone. That's going to piss people off, but, it is what it is. You don't fail to return the calls of guys you consider a key component of the team.

Even if the signing of Comeau is confirmed there are two more roster slots to be filled.

It could be a FA & Vinny.

Or a trade acquisition and Vinny.

Or Vinny and best player from camp.

Or FA & trade Acquisition.

Or..

... well you get the idea.

I could be wrong, but I think Comeau scored at a higher per-minute rate for us than Vinny did, and he might be ready for full time top-6 duty again (like he used to be). Meanwhile he's a very good checker and cheap. I'm also not a fan of holding roster spots open for rookies. Let them force their way on.

I'm sure it sounds weird, but I'd rather have Comeau on this team next year than Prospal or Jenner. If Jenner forces his way on, it's a different story.

After wondering ytf we obtained him last year, I warmed to his play (2g,3a in 9 games will do that). Projects to 18-27-45 which I know is a stretch but he did putup 40-41 in two seasons with the Isles. Going back east could be a plus to his game. He is physical. He is 27. I like it.
