Cant we just place a crate of beer on the goal line, we eventually would make the playoffs?

Speaks for itself.

On one of the podcasts, it was said that the Flyers goalies have a SV% of like .750 over the last 2-3 weeks.

Flyers board is rejoicing, more interesting in an I told you so story vs the team doing well, but at the end of the day, goaltending like that tanked the 1st half of the Oilers season, Devils season, etc. Nothing else will turn up - offense, defense, passing, if every 4-5 shots are a goal as the players will not play with any confidence.

That's the Torts haters relieved they don't have to give him his due. I've just decided to blame Hart. Ersson is gassed from playing too much, and everyone else we put in net can't be trusted.

Not surprised at how they have been doing lately.

Carter Hart left, so the Flyers' 1A, 1B goalie tandem fell apart. They couldn't rest Ersson because the alternatives are a totally washed Cal Petersen and their average AHL goalie, Felix Sandstrom.

Couturier ran outta gas and then ALSO got injured. 3 of their 4 top dmen got injured at the same time: Drysdale, Seeler, Ristolainen

They traded Sean Walker, their no. 1 puck moving defenseman and secret weapon for shorthanded scoring and for scoring off the rush. In return, they got the corpse of Ryan Johansen.

An actually god season will be remembered as pure frustration with this ending. There is not a lot anyone could do.
As Ersson became the starter he could handle the situation pretty good at first but meanwhile he lost all his confidence while playing a lot of games. Save% the last 10+ games is about 80%. Everyone in the organization knows there is no solution for this problem and the season is lost unfortunately. Thr big russian was a desperation move, nothing else.

According to the broadcast team, it ties an NHL record set by the Washington Capitals many years ago.
Capitals had six goals by defensemen on December 4, 1992, but that was 8-4-win, so not all goals were by them. Sylvain Cote and Kevin Hatcher scored twice while Paul Cavallini and Al Iafrate had one goal each.

Dmitri Khristich and Pat Elynuik scored among forwards.

That is 1000% the correct position, however. The team is utterly bereft of talent. The franchise is run by corporate stiffs who do not understand this (I'm not talking about the beloved internal hire stooges at GM and POHO--I'm talking about the people who hired them because no one else would take the jobs).

If you give Comcast Spectacor a couple million in playoff revenue and slap an award on Torts for it, you dramatically deceease the likelihood that substantial changes are made that will allow them to build an actual contender.

Torts coaches you out of the lottery while tanking the trade value of most veterans on the roster. Literally the worst possible coach for a rebuilding team.

As for goaltending? Guess what, that's on the franchise and its rookie GM, too. The organization was aware Hart's situation was coming. They did not expect to be sitting in a playoff position when it did. Once he was arrested, they had ample opportunity to try out one of the veterans like Raanta who hit waivers or work a small deal for a semi-competent backup. But they couldn't figure out what to do, so they leaned way too hard on Ersson and made no move. Still had a 4th to spare to acquire Eric f***ing Johnson at the deadline though!!!!1!!

When it became clear they screwed up there, they got Fedotov to North America and threw him to the wolves after a single practice. Pure desperation and not at all fair to the player, but they made sure to hype the fans up about him as if he was gonna save the day.

It's top-down organizational incompetence on display.

Ties NHL record for most goals exclusively by defensemen with zero goals by forwards?

Was sure this would be the record.

Yeah, that's not at all the same thing as what happened here.

They don’t just hate Torts, they hate the Flyers.

Yes, this is the first time Columbus has won a game. 🤪

Pretty cool, definitely a weird one.
