Brutal. Really hope he and his family are alright.

It's clearly way bigger than hockey and probably non-team disciplinary based on Bednar candidly saying he has 'no idea' how long term it is.

The recent geo-political factors do make you wonder with Russian players. We are living in interesting times.

Ah yes, he's Russian so some twitter experts jump immediately into rampant speculation.

Do you think they might try and Pat Tillman him?

What charming euphemisms you use... "geo-political", "interesting"... my foot!
"Interesting times" is legit phrase without having to go into particulars.

If you think I'm pro Russia you're out of your gourd.

Is this an attempted gotcha because you think I support the American military industrial complex?

Hopefully whatever it is he's back with the team relatively quickly. He seemed to have finally woke up in game 2 and was playing as well as he had since the start of the season. The Avs are a much better team with Nichuskin at his best.

Most of you think you are way smarter than you actually are. It's f***ing annoying.

Let’s sticky this post.

Seriously, if his name were Chris Anderson the only posts would be “I hope he and his family are okay” but due to his nationality every dweeb who spends their Sunday morning’s posting on a message board is suddenly a professor of political science, foreign relations, history, etc.

And in your rush to be experts you perform the same type of conclusion jumping that you likely deride in others when championing not stereotyping people and being tolerant and inclusive. For all you know a sibling was in a car accident. A family member had an unfortunate diagnosis. If he was Canadian, sure, but he’s Russian so let me flex my superior snark and judgement and jump to all sorts of conclusions.

Correct take

Can we start getting rid of these stupid boogeyman posts speculating every time a Russian player is mentioned? Seems like in every other case of similar speculation the posts get removed

It’s the same with the “journalists” (who are actually supposed to be real journalists) that spend all night on Twitter posting their theories without knowing anything more than an average HF poster.

I have a feeling the people following certain world events and cheering for sides as if it were a sport, ascribing anything that happens with a Russian to it, aren't overlapping in great numbers with the "inclusive" crowd (perhaps for those for whom that is simply an aesthetic for though). Just my experience, could be wrong.
