Iginla

for

Fayne and a 3rd.

Oiler's shore up the Right side, Av's get more depth on the blue line.

Thoughts?

Edit: Might I add Iginla has struggled this year with 2 goals in 12 games. Meanwhile Fayne is hurt.

Fayne has another year left on his deal at $3.625 AAV, while Iginla is a UFA at the end of the season.

Not sure where the logic is on this deal as the cap space seems to have much more value to the Avs as an asset than picking up Fayne for a year.

Also, there is the issue of Iginla waiving his NMC.

Iginla is awful and you could have him for free...but at least he's a bad piece that is off the books at the end of this year. The Avs have zero need for Fayne, and since he has an additional year on his deal, this is a really easy no.

You don't want Iginla, he'll make the top6 just worse.

true about fayne but fayne also meets all the criteria for the expansion draft so the avs wouldnt have to worry about barrie, although im sure they will make sure someone meets that criteria before then anyway

Both Weircioch and Gelinas will be RFA's, there will be no issue with re-signing one of them pre-expansion.

It is an interesting point if Colorado can't work out an extension with Wiercioch or Gelinas for expansion draft purposes. It would be a shame in some ways if CO had to go that route, because they would simply have Fayne on the books for one more season. I don't see LV selecting Fayne in the expansion draft.

yeah and thats the issue, you have to have a player available but no one actually wants that guy lol

Pacioretty and more

I'll tell you one thing, Pacioretty will be sent ther for either Duchesne or Landeskog and more players... The AVs are going nowhere, Pacioretty needs a new start without being captain

I suspect other players and prospect blends with that...

Inginla? forget it...

If CO starts moving out players like Duchene or Landeskog, they won't be trading them for older players like Patches. It would not make any sense. I am not raising any issue as to value, that's a different argument.

The Oilers can't do this. Correct me if I'm mistaken but I think we need to expose Fayne to meet the minimum dman expansion criteria (unless we're exposing someone good like Larsson or Klefbom).

Which line are we playing Iggy on?

Eberle, Caggulia, Puljujarvi, Kassian and Pitlick are all better than Iggy at this point.

Every Iggy thread goes the same way. 1) he has a NTC and has made it clear he has no interest in waiving it. 2) He isn't even able to play at a 4th line level at this point.

Specifically for this thread the best part about Iggy is the large amount of cap space that the Avs will have at the end of the year and they wouldn't waste 3.6m of that on a guy like Fayne.
