Miller is right handed, skates well, good shooter, and moves puck well. Still young, not too physical along boards, not great defensively. As far as playing with Schultz, Schultz might be teaching him things through discussion, but actually playing with Schultz is not easy. Schultz and Miller in the AHL is like watching McNabb and McBain/Greene break the puck out. I'd say Miller still has upside to his game.
As far as comparing him to Forbort, you can't. As mentioned in earlier post, different roles. Put another way, there are things that Forbort is way better at than Miller, and vice versa.
With all that said, I'd like to think that Miller's game is better than McBain.
The Kings seem to like veterans, and in this climate of trying to repeat, young upstart players don't get their shot at a cup of coffee like other teams. The only way to truly see how some of these kids handle the NHL is going to be to play them a little bit when the opportunity arises.
So, it turns into what's an opportunity? In the Kings, you have the salary cap problems, etc. preference about Veterans. Or, what no one ever contemplates, is bad play of vets and maybe these kids are better than some of them right now. The Kings are hell bent on being patient as keeping together for the same team as last year. They just need to make the playoffs first! Which isn't an easy task, even though every post I read seems to think it will be easy.
