I followed him a quite a bit while he played for the Greyhouds. I believe he was named 3rd best defenseman in his final junior season. Miller had a great point shot and could skate.

I was pretty impressed by his teammate Ryan Sproul but would not be surprised if Miller turned out to be better. When I said this, people (read: Red Wings fans) told me to shut the **** up.

Last season I saw some Manchester games and thought defensively he needed to improve a lot. Now it seems offensively he has taken the next step and his superior former teammate seems to struggle. I dont know much about his total game now. I hope it got better.

Miller has had all the tools. He lacked the decision making to put it all together. He's found it. Lethal threat from the point all season.

While the #Monarchs are down 4-1, Colin Miller scored ANOTHER PP goal. This kid has been far (FAR) and away the most improved player.

Looks like MIller has made the connection, that's a very positive sign when a young player takes that next step.

Auger, Miller been the surprises of the season so far down in Manchester.

Their game's have done complete 180's since Jr hockey.

The organization really likes Miller as well from what I hear.

Kind of see him as a future Alec Martinez to a lot of degrees. Excellent skater, probably the best on Manchester, would arguably the best on the Kings as well if he was called up.

The future is so bright that I have to wear my sunglasses at night

Miller has NHL potential. He's been paired with Jeff Schultz since last season and I think it's done wonders for him. He scored the lone Monarch goal last night in a 4-1 loss. It was an absolute rocket from point. Beat Anton Forsberg who will be an NHL goalie himself.

As for him having a higher ceiling then Forbort, it's hard to say. They play very different games. It matters what vaule more. A stay at home d-man or a picking moving d-man.

Miller is right handed, skates well, good shooter, and moves puck well. Still young, not too physical along boards, not great defensively. As far as playing with Schultz, Schultz might be teaching him things through discussion, but actually playing with Schultz is not easy. Schultz and Miller in the AHL is like watching McNabb and McBain/Greene break the puck out. I'd say Miller still has upside to his game.

As far as comparing him to Forbort, you can't. As mentioned in earlier post, different roles. Put another way, there are things that Forbort is way better at than Miller, and vice versa.

With all that said, I'd like to think that Miller's game is better than McBain.

The Kings seem to like veterans, and in this climate of trying to repeat, young upstart players don't get their shot at a cup of coffee like other teams. The only way to truly see how some of these kids handle the NHL is going to be to play them a little bit when the opportunity arises.

So, it turns into what's an opportunity? In the Kings, you have the salary cap problems, etc. preference about Veterans. Or, what no one ever contemplates, is bad play of vets and maybe these kids are better than some of them right now. The Kings are hell bent on being patient as keeping together for the same team as last year. They just need to make the playoffs first! Which isn't an easy task, even though every post I read seems to think it will be easy.

Its called paying your dues , and thank god the Kings demand it now out of prospects. Remember those dark days of kings having ZERO development program.

From the highlights someone posted of the Sound Tigers game, he looked all over the place offensively. But very poor defensively.
