If the Habs can get a reasonably good long term deal here, along with what should be a high draft pick, they set the tone for their entire rebuild.

E.g. Draisaitl getting signed to 8.5/year on his first contract was spectacular. The benefit was mitigated by shit signing elsewhere in the line up though.
