Hall’s price will be interesting. I’m sure he’s going for a little term based on his comments. I like that he’ll probably be affordable but I wouldn’t want another Carrier contract.

Jost works as a 4C.

Jost doesn’t really work as a 4c I mean there’s a reason Rod didn’t even dress him last night and dressed Stillman for 1 shift

He was doing great before his injury. Rod said he was doing well and had essentially made the team in preseason. He’s just coming back from a significant injury. Im guessing that’s the reason he sat. Either working his way back in slow or something hurts.

Not good enough to roll aho,kk,staal, jost as centres come playoff time

I’m not prepared to go into the playoffs with KK as 2C as it is!

I think if Jost gets on a roll he could be a 3C. If all the things we have to worry about the 4C just really isn’t in my radar. If we got a 2C and still had KK he could be the 4C.
Jost will never be a 3c he’s a borderline ahl nhl player I guess you just have higher hopes for him then me

Jost is fine as a 4C that can serviceable play up if need be. What you lose with him vs Drury at 4C is better defensive play and faceoff acumen, which right now I think they’re really missing along with Necas’ entries on the PP. But to be fair, it’s not like they were doing that much with Necas on the PP after Xmas anyway.

I’d have no problem if they kept Jost around as a bottom 6’er. He’s cheap, versatile and experienced. Also, he’s a dime a dozen player, so easily replaceable too.

IMO, this was always a transitional year, not the year to go for it. However seems like the front office felt differently with their looming cap space and possibly getting a head start on signing the best UFA available in Rantanen. That’s backfired horribly so far. That trade probably goes down as the worst move they’ve made, with the Kotkankemi offer sheet and subsequent 8yr deal being 2nd worst.

The D is showing the cracks from losing Pesce and Skjei, but they’ve been able to bandaid the blueline with short term solutions, while banking on Nikishin as the long term solution. I think that bet pays off.

What they haven’t been able to do is put any sort of reasonable 2nd line together or find a player Svechnikov clicks with. To me, that has to be the goal this deadline and potentially in summer too. Jettison Kotkaniemi or finally realize he’s a bottom 6’er.

Also, suck it up, send Rantanen packing for the best offer a team gives you. I don’t care if that team is a direct rival, get all you can for him and move on. Its been a very small sample size, but it I’ve seen enough, I don’t want them to pay him $13M+ for the next 8yrs anymore. And if by some miracle he finally clicks and starts putting up points and re-signs, I’ll gladly eat my words, but I ain’t holding my breath.

It was a transitional year until they acquired a 50 goal scorer and the east has probably never been more wide open. I’d be surprised if the offers were even close to good enough I’d just keep him and hope the team gets hot come playoff time and so does Rantanen that’s when he performs his best

If I had to bet I just don’t see them going past next Friday with aho kk staal and jost as the 4 centres they will add at least one imo

I don’t expect him to be a 3C, you asked if I was prepared to have him play up in the lineup. If he gets on a role he could do it for a bit.

I feel you’re fixated on the 4C spot way more than I am. Jost when he was playing well was outplaying KK imo, he has value. Can he be upgraded on? Of course. There’s a handful of spots on this team that need to be upgraded before him so I don’t spend time worrying about it.
