Feel like I'm watching a slow speed collision just seconds before it happens.

We don't got to go down this way. I'll just say, I probably shouldn't have said F off, but then again if you are taking that seriously from me you have not been paying attention. I have actually asked my mom to pass the f***ing potatoes at Thanksgiving dinner. It's just a word... I didn't realize how truly utilitarian a word it was until I got into basic training... but from that point on "f***" (or a derivative) has been every 4th or 5th word out of my mouth. I don't mean anything by it. I'm just a sailor.

f***er: [fuh-kr] (noun): The Navy issued gender neutral pronoun since 1776.
Tankers say that too.

Sure, that's ideal, but then he sees the precedent that was set with the guy he was traded for.

Wait long enough, reject offers, and you'll find yourself traded. Goodbye to your MacKinnon cushion.
Sure, but we also already have a precedent with how Necas negotiates. It didn't go well with Carolina the last time. Maybe he has changed. Maybe he has not.

To be fair Carolina has not exactly been the best fit for Necas. The man wants to play free flowing offensive hockey. Rod the bod hates that shit and probably doesn't exactly appreciate how Necas plays.

I think Necas will negotiate better here than in Carolina because he loves our system so he will want to stay here, and he saw what happened with Mikko here if you try too hard to get every dollar you can out of the Avs. The Avs will also have leverage by showing that numbers go up when playing with Mack.

Oh I think Necas will very likely want to sign here. I just don't think it will necessarily happen the first thing on July 1st (unless we maybe win lol), or if it happens I would be shocked if the AAV is less than 10.

Considering the Mack-bump in production I'd be OK to give Necas 10-10.5M x 8 yrs right now and maybe 11M if he does better here in the playoffs than he did in Carolina.

Let’s just say it’s a meeting that REALLY could have been an email.

From what I understand he felt a bit stifled in Carolina and Moose just provided an object lesson in placing a dollar value on a good fit.

Not to forget too, some people just react differently when you offer them say $80M.
We basically know Rants wanted to push it as far as he could go, who's to stay that Necas would be the same way

Bednar and his open system getting credited for Necas. Rod and his defensive system getting criticized for Mikko. Meanwhile, Necas was putting up better PTS/60 in Carolina than he is in Colorado.

Mikko's career shooting percentage is 16% and currently he's at 4% in Carolina. I'm thinking some bad luck may be at play more so than Rod. I haven't watched them since the break though and I saw complaints about him being a ghost so he might also be playing like crap recently.

Compared with his numbers in Colorado, Rantanen is averaging nearly five more shots per 60 minutes, 0.4 more expected individual goals per 60, more than six more individual shots per 60, more than two more rebounds created per 60, and more than one more takeaway per 60. Now, it’s worth pointing out that Brind’Amour’s aggressive, high-volume system can be flattering to just about any player. But Rantanen’s underlying numbers are staggering.
The one that isn’t? Shooting percentage — down from 11.49 in Colorado to just 6.67 in Carolina.

In other words, Rantanen is due.

He’s also shooting from everywhere just like the Canes system makes players do.

Brindamour doesn’t want much East-West play or looking for the perfect shot. Gain the zone, put a puck on net and start the cycle game. Shoot everything on net whenever you get the chance.

Yup, Carolina are Corsi kings, which, believe it or not, has not translated into any Cups

Once the big UFA contract is signed here or elsewhere he won't need Mack anymore. Mack is very useful before the contract though.
