Then VAN deals Drury/Hoglander for a Dman, or tries upgrading on Mittlestadt at C, while COL looks like this at F:

MacK-Necas and Aho-Rantanen are both very tasty potential combos. MacK and Necas is just speed for days, Necas ain’t a small boi either. That’ll be terrifying for defenders to defend on their rush. We know Aho and Rantanen know each other well from their junior days even if they didn’t always play on the same line for Finland. Aho cerebral play and Mikko’s undeniable strength and both have a great mix of playmaking and shooting ability.

And his overall work ethic all but disappeared. It was weird. Many of us thought it was maybe an injury but it never got better. Ive been saying for awhile now.. there’s NO WAY im paying this version of Mikko 14mil. Absolutely not.

The Avs had to do this and I like the deal. Loosing him for nothing cripples the franchise. This frees up space to add more and gets much needed faceoff guy. Time will tell

I think the Raantanen contract demands factored in to this far more than people will admit

I think this is a win-win deal for Carolina and Colorado. Carolina takes on the more proven superstar, but takes on the risk of his contract ask. Colorado retains a high end winger, with an additional year of cap flexibility.

I don't fall for the Carolina hype. They are pretenders every year who are extremely desperate for a cup.

I sure hope Colorado is able to re-sign Rantanen because this is a huge loss for them If Rantanen doesn't go back to Colorado this summer.

You swallow the cost sometimes to keep one of the best wingers in the league. Never gonna find that chemistry again.

He wasn't worth 14M alone but keeping him/Makar/Mack together was worth more than that.

I think your going to find that he's not worth that no matter what. This coming from someone who doesn't like the AVs. Rantanen doesn't drive play at all and disappears far too often.
