Coaching is a serious problem.

So if Caufield gets a one year stay of execution, why doesn’t Dach for his major knee surgery?

Caufield did well last year even though he didn't live up to the goal scoring expectations. It was still a career year for him. And he was not being lackadaisical about it. In fact, other areas of his game improved.

What I'm thinking holds Dach back is that he had a major injury last year and it was a result of a typical body check. It wasn't a dirty play nor was it a heavy one a la Scott Stevens that laid him out. It was just your run-of-the-mill body check that gets thrown around all the time all game long. So maybe he's thinking that if a nothing body check injured him like that, he might have a hesitance of any body contact, because it could be a nothing play, he may feel like he could get seriously injured again.

Craig Button was on with Marinaro on his podcast the other day. Button mentioned Connor Brown had the same injury as Dach in 2022-23. He played 4 games that year and missed an entire year. That summer, he signed with the Oilers as a UFA. Button mentioned that Brown wasn't looking good at the beginning and Oilers fans were upset because he wasn't living up to the expectations. But around February, that's when Brown started playing like Connor Brown. Because after missing an entire year, he was hesitant. But around February, he was feeling more comfortable.

I only point to 7pts from wildcard & 8pts from 3rd in division w games in hand - despite last nights very disappointing performance

They’re not 20 pts out as I’d be led to believe based on the hysteria I read

Pretty crazy to think that a .534 winning% would give you a wildcard spot

People were calling for CC to be dealt last year.

And unlike Dach, he actually played really well. Generated 300+ shots and was constantly on the attack. His shot held him back but he was otherwise really good.

Dach on the other hand has been pretty bad. Tentative and is probably afraid of getting hurt again.

Lol, a part from slaf who had a good season last year non of these players ever proved anything in the nhl.

It’s ok dude you’ll be fine
Therefore getting worse is quite bad for us fans who need to see them become relevant NHL contributors.

Dach especially.

So Dach is MSL’s fault? Really?
Marty has his issues, but Dach's injury and subsequent performance should not be considered one of them.

Does anyone think, that the boys upstairs are involved in Marty's lineup decisions??
I never did, but recently, it feels like MSL is trying to please the boys upstairs, by using their pets more than he should? Matheson, and Newhook come to mind.

Not managing to get Dach going despite ample TOI is MSL’s responsibility.

He is just one, of many issues that MSL has. I also feel Dach is more responsible for himself, than MSL is at this point.
Periodic benchings might help, and let Pez take their place, one by one? Outside of Nick and Cole, and maybe Evans.

Not having the team ready for puck drop, having a team who has no clue how to defend, and a team that quits like they did last night is MSL fault.

MSL has surpassed Ducherme horrible run, any other coach would have been fired a long time ago. A rookie staff learning how to be NHL coaches while guiding a young developing core is a joke.

Hard to argue with this

He’s done everything a coach can. Gave him the best linemates. Moved him to the wing…

At the end of the day MSL can only play the cards he’s dealt. There is nobody who sits in the 2nd chair other than Dach. And if Dach can’t do the job than the coach is hooped. It’s him, Dvorak or Evans.

Blame him for what he can control. Dach getting injured and shitting the bed isn’t a coaching issue. It’s a roster problem.

But it's not what i said.

Obviously you can't argue with the point i was making that everytime a young guy as succes lot's of people included you claiming MSL did wonder for him but any regression we see is never beceause of him, seems kind of strange to me

As I’ve said before, entirely possible that those players would’ve progressed anyway. We can’t know if it’s the case. However. If they are progressing then I’d say the coach at the very least is not hindering their progress. And MSL has demonstrably helped players like CC, Dach and Newhook in the past. Yeah, I’d say you should credit the coach for that.

If a player regresses, I’d look to why. Last year CC’s goal totals regressed. But his play was good. We know he was coming off shoulder surgery and that explained it. This year he’s back.

Now Dach’s coming off surgery. He doesn’t look anything like the player he used to be. Do you seriously think that’s a coaching issue?
