I agree the goaltending was atrocious. But can ask Marty why he didn’t see after the 2nd period that Montembault was not tracking the puck and why he left him in when he saw that he was clearly off leaving our extremely shaky second string goalie to come in cold in the third period behind a deflated team? The coaching is bad. There’s no defending some of the decisions he’s making. They’re bad in every area. I’m a random HF poster and I could make better on the spot decisions then he can.

If all of us have concluded that Primeau isn’t an NHL capable G, I think MSL and his staff figured it out a while back…

Therrien alone is not enough, i heard MB would like another gig at GM.......c'mon Gorton fire both Hughes and MSL replace them with MB and MT.........now that would be drama

I don't think it is as much a coaching issue as a management one. Gorton and Hughes made offseason moves that have hurt the team. Monahan and Kovacevic are the two who hurt the most. Their evaluations of Dach and Barron were wrong, neither is a suitable replacement for the guys who left. Newhook is another failed experiment, a nothing burger of a player who would be okay on a deep team but his weaknesses shine bright on a rebuilding one such as ours.

I am critical of MSL for two things, the complicated defensive system that we didn't need and for not being tough on veteran players by scratching them when they suck. It's only the entry level players who get punished. That won't gain him long term respect from the young guys when most of the dead weight is gone.

I predict Marty will resign from the team for personal reasons without getting fired.

It’s more like we want some accountability for the players, which MSL seems to not really prioritize. He needs to embrace that he’s their coach, not friend. He’s not a player. He’s management. The players are your employees, not your buddies.

There are no depth options at present - if you sit Dach or Slaf who plays? Pizzeria?

If Matheson sits which young D can step up and take his TOI, let alone the ripple effect of increased TOI for other Ds? I’m willing to bet both Matheson & Savard have been playing through non minor injuries for a while..

Way I look at it MSL is trying to manage “in da mix” expectations with a team that presently lacks NHL depth above & beyond the 12F, 7D & 1G presently available at his disposal

Roy not being able to step up & grab a roster spot, and Redenbacker’s injury has had an impact on this teams depth, let alone Laine being out for 6-weeks +

Gallagher-Dvo-Anderson have been quite good and outperforming opposition 3rd lines for majority of the season thus far…. but they’re 3rd liners.

So…we give up 1st rounders because we’re not trying to get better? I don’t get it.
