One of the things popular here is doing Christmas hampers full of food for people less fortunate. Some friends and I are donating money and buying food for them.

i think at some point it just gets ridiculous.every store you go to wants a donation.community groups at hockey games, mall parking lots, etc, etc.

Where does it end ???

i pick one or two to donate to & that's it.

I drop a few bucks in every Salvation Army bucket I see usually, but I also will buy fun stuff for kids and food to donate.

I donate treats to the shelters for pets every year as well. I don't think I have room for anymore pets, but they should be allowed to have something special as well.

It's unfortunate that it has gotten a little bit like that. It's become an industry or livelihood for some people who clip the ticket on charities and donations; and not just at this time of the year.

I'm a big supporter of the Salvation Army, even though I don't quite agree with their take on a lot of things, they do invaluable work.

It pays just to pick one or two things, you can't give to everyone and everything, nor should you.

Those who donate canned goods, check the date on them to make sure they aren't expired before donating them otherwise they just get thrown away and it just created a lot of unnecessary work.

Cash, food and toys.

I donate a couple of Turkeys to my E.L.Ks lodge and we make food charity baskets that are given out to poor families. I encourage people to donate Turkeys they would earn with points from supermarket purchases that won't use and will lose if not used by a certain date.

Cash that goes towards vouchers that will buy a homeless person a meal.

Toy's for poor children that would not have received anything on Christmas.
