Wasn’t the most talented player, but he was fearless. Dropped the gloves every time the bell rang. Probably one of the most beloved in the dressing room, and seemed like a great guy all around. Happy he got to be around the Stanley cup. Enjoy retirement Thorbs.

I'd love to have a 5-10 year younger Thorburn with the rest of the F group we have now.

The problem with him when we had him was that he played to far up the depth chart for too many minutes. But at 4RW on a strong team, he'd be very welcome.

Great guy to have in the pressbox, plus that toe-drag goal was fun
Cool that he got to finish by winning the Cup

This guy is a classic example of how to carve out a career as a borderline nhl talent

1. Work hard every shift, every practice
2. Stand up for your teammates
3. Be a good influence in the room
4. Accept your role
5. Be positive

Guys like liepsic need to learn from the thorburms, bietttos and Hendricks of the world. There were a lot of "hurrr-durrr gud pro" posts but every team needs a guy that young players can model in terms of work ethic and character.

I think we all have a special place in our hearts for guys who made an nhl career for themselves based on these attributes vs God given talent.

The toe-drag goal is a beauty, but this goal just seems more 'like' what 4th Line Jesus was all about. Skate hard, nose (heh heh heh) for the puck, a nice clean hard check, and that "where the f*** did THAT come from?" miracle hand finish.

Not a pure goal scorer's goal, but a pure hockey player's goal.

Love the toe-drag goal too.

Chris was that mild, hilarious, totally at peace with his role warrior. We will always need more Chris Thorburn’s in the world. Universally loved by his teammates and that is the truest test. Say what you will about his hockey skill but as a human he is one of the best.

GST line didn't score much but they were a fun line to watch play , all 3 worked hard every shift. I think Thorburn would make a good coach one day.

Good on the guy for making a career but that three year extension they gave him was one of the most puzzling signings they have ever made.
