Speculation: Chris Illitch and wife file for divorce. Will this have cap implications for Red Wings?

of course, she'll eat at least half and will spend it for plastic surgeries not my beloved Red Wings.

Equal this, equal that... heck I got banned from a thread for criticizing female announcers. Divorce court... straight out of 1955.

Will it impact the Wings. I can't see that happening, unless she gets half the team in the divorce. In a related family situation, the Chargers ownership (Spanos family) had a trust issue and one of them was suing to sell the team. Most fans were rooting for a sale. I don't think the Wings fans are that hostile toward Chris.

They made a statement specifically saying it will not impact any of illitch businesses. This is a non issue and it's their personal matter.

“After thoughtful consideration, we will be transitioning into separate lives and do so with love, friendship, and a commitment to our children," Chris and Kelle Ilitch said in a joint statement provided by Mendelson on Tuesday. "We will support each other in our new journey and continue to focus on family, friends, and community. We have settled this matter, and it will have no impact on the ownership or operation of the Ilitch businesses. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”

Salary cap implications? None. He makes more money if the team wins. He'll probably jack up parking and beer prices, lol.

Doesn't mom own most of Ilitch Holdings anyways? Just because Chris runs the show doesn't mean he owns all of it. Mt Brighton was the same way, the kid (Robbie) ran the hill, but mom owned most of it when it sold to Vail.
