Skellefteå - Helsingfors could be a fun game :)
Linköping - Turku should be interesting as well.

Kärpät scores after 15 seconds lol. 1-0 Donskoi

Where would you rank Kärpät in Liiga? Kosice only with a theoretical chance advancing through the group stage. Should be a cake walk.
Group A feels kinda weak.

Top 3 easily. Kosice hasn't created a single scoring change yet.
(5+20 minutes) coming up after a nasty hit by Mikko Rantanen on Jonas Junland. Junland hurts his face but he's still sitting on the bench.
Anyone know what happened?

Yet they scored at the end of the 1st. Kärpät has had some tough time in Liiga recently. Interesting to see how it will work out after this week's "rest", with only two games in schedule.

highlight of the game, lamberg takes a penalty -> some guy in the crowd with swedish accent shouts "perrrrkele!" :D

btw the venue looks completely empty, what's the skellefteå shl avarage attendance ? close to 6k ?

Yeah its sad really. You get to see teams like HIFK which you normally wouldnt be able to see play swedish teams and not many tickets sold :( come on people its great hockey! Buy tickets!

It's understandable that Frölunda have very modest numbers against a team like Briancon.. but HIFK should at least garner a bit more interest than this showing.

Wednesday night at is just awful time for these kinda games. Play them on weekend afternoons with cheap ticket prices.

Only little over 2000 attendance in both Oulu and Turku too.

Well, these games hasen't exactly been soldout events in finland either so maybe the crowd is just more pumped up to SHL and Liiga games than this tournament. But this is year 1 for this thing so hopefully next year this will gather more attention and more people will find their ways in these games.

Give attendance numbers time, it's september but also the inaugural season with no history or tradition attached to it. I don't like this weekday starting time for the Swedish teams, 20.05 is too late if you wanna bring your kids to a game(well, for the average family anyway). Last night's Djurgården game didn't start until 20.30 because of ice problems.. Rather an hour early than an hour late.

A great performance by SAIK, not so much by HIFK. First period was sort of even, although better scoring chances went to the home team. In the second, there was only one team on the ice.

In the third however, game was sort of even again, and would have been nice to see what HIFK could have done if Elkins' clear goal wasn't disallowed. Mistake by the referees, but what can you do.

Skellefteå takes away the victory, and with that, secures the first place and a playoff spot. HIFK should still be in contention for the play-offs, although a win on home turf would not hurt. Here's hoping for a much better showing in 2 weeks!

Yeah, 20:00 is pretty late for the start... The game was quite one sided after the first period. Like Törmänen commented skellefteå was a one step better than the finnish mid-table teams they have faced. Skellefteå seem pretty solid team even that they have lost lots of key players since last season. Would be great to see kärpät - skellefteå in the later playoffs.

Reff way to fast on the whistle. Should have been a goal for HIFK. Not too sure about that last penalty ether. Wasn't that a clean hit? SAIK was the better team, however. But you nver know how it could have ended had the goal been allowed.

It's not great hockey. Todays game was slow and boring.

Skellefteå has a home game on friday in the SHL and then an away game on saturday, nobody chooses an expensive late night "preseason game" over that. (Especially now when we're spoiled with success and people even have a hard time getting excited about regular SHL-games.)

Not sure why someone mentioned the Skellefteå-Kärpät matchup, we face eachother every other preseason and get low attendance. Is it because they're champions? We had a Swedish champion VS Finnish champion matchup last preseason which weren't exciting either.
Meanwhile this is away support 30 minutes before a preseason game vs our local archrivals who plays in the second division.

They probably imitated Husso who was really the main attraction this evening, never heard a goalie shout that much before! :)
