I've been getting a lot of acne on my chin the last couple of months which is strange because I've hardly had any since my teenage years.

I play hockey 3-4 times per week with a cage with a rather large chin cup that covers my chin right up to the bottom lip. Could the dirt/bacteria lurking within be the cause of my acne?

If so, are there any remedies?

I get that problem. It goes away when I'm careful about wiping my face off with a wet wipe after I play and spray my chin cup with rubbing alcohol every once in a while to sanitize it. You could probably use a rubbing alcohol wipe to clean it off.

Yes, if it's bacteria, there is a remedy - bacteria does pretty well in moisture, so keep it dry. Dry your face, as mentioned, and dry the chip cup when you can, say between periods and definitely thoroughly at the end of the game. And yes, alcohol, 70% or higher, is a good idea now and then. Alcohol dries out some materials so depends too.

But in general, keeping things dry and getting rid of sweat/oil/dead skin cells goes a long way.

I had some breakouts last year so I started washing my face soon after each game. So far problem solved. I think the issue was I would play, sit in the locker room for a couple of hours drinking/chatting, and end up not properly cleaning my face for hours after getting all nasty.
