Child Policy at MSG

My boy will be 26 months old when we plan to see a game in December. I believe the official MSG policy is 24 months old for a child without a ticket. Does anyone know how strict they are with this? How do they enforce it? My fear is getting 3 tickets together may be tough while 2 will be easier... not to mention the difference in price.

I think it comes down to how well he fits on your lap. If you can sit him there without bothering anyone around you and he's not going to be all fussy, then you should be able to get hi through the gate pretty easily. If challenged just tell the usher that his 2nd birthday is coming up
 
I commend you for asking beforehand.

I hate it when parents leave 2.5 year old kids outside the Garden until after the game when they find out they can't have them on their lap.
 
Mind you this was 10 years ago.

When my son was 2'ish I took him to MSG and the ticket takers never even asked his age or for a ticket.
 
Do you really have to inflict a 2 year old on everyone else around you? You're not taking him to the zoo. Unless they're playing the devils or flyers of course.

The 2 year old would probably be better behaved than a good portion of adults at some games.
 
I recommend ear muffs. The sudden roar of 18 thousand people is overwhelming for kids that age...in my personal experience. Didn't have ear muffs. First Rangers goal, we had to leave the game.

Ear muffs.

Edit: Completely set myself up for this, but i'll pre retort. Hardy har i didn't wear ear muffs, im only two, hardy har. LOL.

Seriously, get ear muffs for the kids.

Pick a game where the opposition is giving their 3rd string goalie his first NHL start.
 
Parent policy, keep your kids out of the 400s. $100 nose bleeds after fighting hell and traffic, can't expect people to be in their best of nature...then there's how bad the Rangers might be doing...

Don't help your 2 year old learn things I shouldn't have learned at that age in that place. Half my posts contain something like "**** **** ************, etc" because of that place.
 
Bringing a 26 month old to a night game might not be worth it. I would recommend bringing kids at about 4 years old at the earliest and that would be for a day game. I know all kids are different but I have been through it with my kids and a night game is tough at 26 months old.

My kid is 5 and sporting events =
I want a pretzel,
I want popcorn,
I want cotton candy,
Daddy - can we go home now?
 
My boy has been to a ton of games -- Just not NYR. Never a problem either on the lap or in a seat. He's a very good kid.
 
Interesting topic, sorry for chiming in.
My worst game experience was when sitting right behind me was a woman with a REALLY high-pitched voice. I barely handled it and thought about what it'd be like if there was a little kid behind me instead of a woman. So think about others before taking kids.
 
The other thing that's interesting is that I've been to games in Buffalo, Columbus, and Carolina. It's nothing outlandish to take a toddler to see a game in any of those places. And I've never seen any problems. In fact,it's quite normal and encouraged.

It'd be interesting if some team created a team section, equipped for families with kids. There are such in soccer IIRC. Probably would make life easier for everyone, families first of all.

There's a Saputo Family Zone at the Bell Centre, but beyond being for families I don't think you can expect any "equipment"

Seriously, 2+ is too young for a hockey game. Just pray the Rangers get a lot of power plays, that way you won't have to worry about startling your kid when we don't score.

edit: I think I understand what you are saying, the wording just leaves some room for interpretation

Why don't you just say he's 24 months?

If I was sitting next to a wailing baby the whole game, I'd be pissed, though. :laugh:

Not nearly as bad as people who bring their babies to MoMA or the movies. :cry: :rant:

Well, separate restrooms from the rest of the arena, special rooms for changing diapers and stuff, maybe some entertainment for kids included in the price of the ticket... that'd be good PR IMO.
