nice to see Kase on the top line.

YUGE chance for Lilly here. He's certainly earned it. If he can keep up his great play while facing top competition, I don't think we need to trade for any blueline upgrades.

Agreed... if Lilly can excel and shore up Muzzin's pairing, and Sandin and Dermott can play well, we should be fine. Rubins seems adequate as a #7, and perhaps Holl can find a way to get his game back.

Please note... a couple of days ago, I suggested that there really wasn't anyone on the Marlies who looked very good on D, when watching them. Clearly I was wrong in my assessment of some of the players, and can only conclude that Moore's coaching and system (??) are hanging these guys out to dry. We need a new Marlies coach so bad. I wonder why nobody in the media asks Dubas about this??

you shoulda listened to me! Rubins is a beauty.

at the same time, I'm really not high on any of the other dmen on the marlies at all. Rubins is the only one I like at all.

The last few Chicago games at home if i recall have all been barn burners. Something like where Chicago goes up 5-1 or 5-2 just for the leafs to claw back and lose something like 6-4. lets see how tomorrow goes

Thankfully Mrazek is back now. He needs to play around half the games till Christmas imo, give Soup as much rest as possible

Give him Chicago and Vancouver at the least, maybe St. Louis to give Campbell extended time off

Call me crazy but I really liked the lines

Bunting-matthews-simmonds
Ritchie-Tavares-kase

can you imagine a third line

nylander-kerfoot-Marner

Duszak is great. Biega and Dahlstrom are good for the AHL level, and both can probably still play the odd NHL game if you needed them to. Kral needs to bring more offensively but he has taken major strides defensively.

Effectively we've got 5 good AHL defensemen and then Menell, who I expect to be better and capable of being a high end top 6 defensemen for them as well. Hoefenmayer and Hellickson are solid AHL depth guys and now you have Chad Krys in that mix as well. I believe all of them can play on their off-side.

Hollowell sucks. Kivihalme sucks. Both can be traded for some playoff depth or some added AHL forward depth. I doubt either have a spot on this team next year, but I said the same thing about Rubins last year and he looked much better playing with Duszak this year than he did playing with Hollowell most of last year. Hollowell hasn't looked good with anyone at any point since turning pro.

I wish I had the ability to find money (cap space) out of nowhere. It's almost like teams are welcoming injuries since it gives them more money to spend in a season at this point.
At this point I'm convinced the salary cap doesn't even exist anymore. It's just for show, teams have just been instructed to not go mega crazy with the spending like before. Honestly, who even in the media understands the cap, and cap shenanigans that go on. Maybe 1 out of 1000.
