Hagel has been traded so here's a revised trade proposal

To Chicago:
:hawks
-Petr Mrazek
-2023 1st round pick
-Ty Voit

To Toronto:
:leafs
-Marc Andre Fleury (50% retention)
-Calvin de Haan (50% retention)

does the money work? if so I say deal
It does. I can break it down for you.

Leafs currently have $3,719,166 in deadline cap space. Trading Mrazek frees up $3,800,000. That gives them $7,519,166 in deadline cap space.

Fleury @ 50% retention = $3,500,000
de Haan @ 50% retention = $2,275,000

3,500,000 + 2,275,000 = $5,775,000

After the trade, Leafs would then have $1,744,166 remaining in cap space.

To be honest the value is probably pretty fair. I'd consider it.

I do think the Leafs will only move their 1st for someone with at least an additional year of term though.

Not a chance does Toronto move a 1st and Hirvonen or Volt…

Kick tires on Anderson first. If not there check on Forsberg in Ottawa.

Toronto can’t move another 1st without term coming back.

Anderson and Forsberg don't win games.

If that's the route Dubas takes, it's another early exit for the Leafs.

If you guys want term, how about subbing McCabe in for de Haan? Dermott would have to be added from Leafs side for the cap to work.

There’s been a lot of talk that Fleury is past his round stealing form a well. That’s what Toronto needs. But that need has to correspond to three things:

As mentioned, a goalie that can steal a round, is available and most importantly: available at prices we (Toronto) can afford.

If MAF is equivocal in outcome to say Anderson or Forsberg, then Toronto should be paying Anderson/Forsberg prices.

I don’t blame Chicago for expecting value off of Fleury’s cache, but Toronto has been spending firsts closer to the guise of a contender than they actually are.

I’d rather service a 1b slot by paying modest prices rather than swing for the fences. I like what Dubas has done in the draft and we need that (in the first round of the draft) more than we need a dice roll of Fleury.

It’s important to get past the first round and no more so than for Dubas. Long term, e team needs that first, and if we’re moving it and not showing up the defense and a hole here and there in our bottom six…Might as well see if Kallgren or one of the aforementioned can motivate the talent on our club to finally surpass their talent with a desperate work ethic.

He is absolutely still capable of stealing games and rounds. Just watch his last game, but the whole season he's been great - minus the little slow start that is now stuck with a bunch of people as his new norm for some reason.

Fleury can still steal games.

You're not going to get that from a beyond past his prime Anderson, or a fluke season Forsberg who will collapse in the playoffs.

Good to know. Reading mixed reviews.
