Cant outrun father time

Brodie just isn't an NHL caliber player anymore

Brodie's decline was oddly quick, though. He was very good until the very last year of the Toronto contract. It might be because his game was reliant on quickness and could not adapt to losing a first step.

If he didn't have a NMC, why didn't they just bury him? They would've saved more cap doing just that.

Its not a good look to bury a vet FA when you can buy him out

Both sides get clean break

Also unless something changes 2 of our young defenders will be in Rockford + a few guys already signed down there he would possibly be on 3rd pairing in Rockford which I am sure is not situation either side would have wanted

Brodie was one of the best skaters in the league that people didn't realize was an incredible skater. I agree that probably is why he'd decline fast

I’m sorry TJ.

I know it’s difficult right now but I’m sure you’ll catch onto a contender needing a 7th or 8th defender to play around 40 regular season games.

I think a big piece was his off-ice situation, IIRC his wife was diagnosed with MS and his dad passed the same year.

Probably will get a job at league min somewhere if he wants it as a 7/8.

Very good player for about a decade but it's probably the end of the line for him, at least when it comes to being a regular on a good team.

TJ's wife was diagnosed with MS while he was in Calgary. TJ and wife Amber started up The Lighthouse Foundation while he was here.

TJ is a class individual and I am sorry to see such a smooth skating and very good d-man seeing the twilight of his career.

I always have memories of TJ and Gio as a top pairing in the NHL.

Here's hoping he can land some place for another year or so, but if he can't he can take pride in a very solid 15 year career.
