Terrible for the Hawks, they can do much, much better for Kane. Also they are going to have to retain 50%.

If Buffalo is getting Kane, it'll be for free in FA if he wants to come home. A lot of fans aren't big on the idea due to cost/age and his antics in both Chicago and Buffalo over the years. Certainly not paying any assets of value for 1 year of Kane.

I’d rather keep Kane a Hawk for life if possible. Even if he gets moved, I get the feeling Kane wouldn’t want to go to Buffalo.

So, the Sabres would have to rely entirely on FA for goalies? No. We need UPL a lot more than anything else here.

Yes, they could do much better but also Kane isn't going to accept a trade to any team.

Assuming he wants to leave Chicago, which isn't a given, like Giroux, he is going to be selective about where he lands. Buffalo is certainly a front runner, being from the area, and is on the upswing.

If Buffalo trades for him, I am confident it would be with the assurance that he is going to stay on past next season.

And Buffalo may not want to wait until he is a UFA to nab him. If I know the Pegulas, they probably aren't keen on having 5,000 people show up to games and want to make a splash to excite the fanbase as he would instantly become their best player.

Keep Kane out of Buffalo. The dude is a trashbag human and putting him back in his hometown seems like a recipe for disaster.

He's assaulted a cab driver, had sexual assault allegations, and been involved in other off-ice shenanigans around Buffalo. This locker room does NOT need him.

Patrick Kane for UPL + a pile of shit?

Nah, I'm good

I had the same thought but from the other side.

Trading futures for Kane does not fit what Buffalo is doing.

I suppose the last "Kane to Buffalo" thread must've slipped down past page 2?

Why on earth would the Sabres give up those assets for 1 year of Kane when they are no where near contending???

I will say that the bolded part does make some sense. They have got to do something that rebuilds the season ticket base. However, I'm not sure how beloved Kane is here outside of South Buffalo - his history is a bag of dicks.

I would expect Chicago to be able to get better value elsewhere, however, Buffalo still declines.

Bryson has been pretty good for them, he has shown chemistry with almost everyone he played with, especially Samuelsson and Dahlin as well as an ability to play RD, which is quite valuable to the Sabres these days.

The Uberpecker is probably their best shot at a young 1G right now, yet they'll still have to find additional good goaltending even with him in the system. Trading him is just against any kind of logic regarding roster needs, unless it's for another goalie.

Kane is a spectacular player, but the fit in Buffalo isn't really there right now, for reasons others have already alluded to.

No thanks. We'll take him for just a contract next off season if there is mutual interest

Chicago would want more, and the Sabres aren't the team to give it to them. If Kane wants to come home in the twilight of his career, he can do that as a UFA. It doesn't make sense for Buffalo to give up young players and futures for him.
