Elite tools, no toolbox. The guy's hockey sense makes Kevin Fiala look like Nik Lidstrom. Rooting for him overall, but man, he's made a long career off being a solo merc who can't use his teammates or anticipate a single defensive play.

This is why he never made any sense at all to me, as a guy the Blackhawks decided to "overpay" to be a roster placeholder and "veteran mentor" even. They could always afford to overpay him, but is a player like that really the guy you want setting the tone and helping "teach" the young players that will be coming along?

I mean, i suppose he served his purpose just fine while they were overtly tanking. Just playing his minutes, doing his own thing, whatever. But then they re-upped him for longer, which seemed odd to me.
