All people's.
Not necessarily. I trust those who watch the prospect regularly to have a good read on them. For instance, I trust gopher fans on here to have a good read on guys like Knies/Cooley/Snuggerud/Rinzel/Chesley/Moore/Clark/Ziemer/etc etc etc.

If only posters on here listened to the guy who watched him last year at Wisconsin instead of clowning him repeatedly…

Oh well. It just revealed that some people’s opinions on prospects should be taken with a grain of salt.
I recall you, the guy watching him regularly, complaining about Stramel being worthless several times last year. You said some pretty harsh things about him, IIRC. That's actually the main reason I was concerned about his development last year.

For a brief moment I fell for the mob take on it instead of believing my eyes.

Always better to meet expectations than to not.
The issue I always struggled with was how can I expect him to produce points like other 1st round draft picks when he is playing 8 minutes a night with guys like Mehlenbacher and Dyck. Every time Hastings would say that he needed to get him more minutes, it would be bumping him up to the 3rd line for a period the next game and then moving him back to the 4th line in the 2nd period.

I don't trust the coaches on an absolute basis, but a do trust that they get to see them practice everyday. I generally don't think that they're going to put a player in a spot to the detriment of the team, and yes, I'm saying that knowing Hastings' affinity for older players. So, yes, his role was a detriment to his production, but was that role earned or unearned?

I'm looking forward to the Minnesota/Michigan State games to see for myself, unless those are only on that Big10+ bullshit.

Well, the guys above him were two players Hastings knew from MSU and a 5th year player. He was also injured pretty early in the season. The odds were definitely against him from the start.

Just because he's been better this year doesn't mean he wasn't bad last year

Just because people can read a box score doesn't mean they know how good or bad he is playing.

You're not the only one who watches games, just because you may watch more than others.

And just because you may watch more than others, doesn't necessarily mean your opinions are more accurate.

And just because he turns a corner and improves this season, doesn't mean he wasn't still bad last season. The idea of development is that players improve. A player improving doesn't mean you were right about him always being good. In fact, a player improving inherently means that he was previously worse.

Generally speaking, people who see every game of a team will have a better understanding of a player.

It is certainly possible that a person could catch a game or two and have a more accurate view. Very doubtful though IMO. In trying to explain my POV into relatable terms for you, imagine if an outsider saw the Wild game tonight and came in to say that Rossi sucks because he didn't produce any points and didn't have a shot on goal while playing on the 3rd line. That is what it has been like reading some posters talk about Stramel the past year or so.

Tyson Dyck was one of Stramel's linemates for much of last year. Today he scored his first goal as a badger... He's played 40 games for Wisconsin. Mehlenbacher has 1 goal in 31 games and is struggling to get in the lineup for Wisconsin this year. That's how in deep Stramel was last year.

You Shore didn't.
I was coachin' in Omaha in 1948 and Eddie Shore sends me this guy who was a terrible masturbator, you know, couldn't control himself. Why, he would get deliberate penalties so he could get over in the penalty box all by himself and damned if he wouldn't... you know...
