What would it cost to acquire McAvoy? I know he's untouchable but just wondering what his value would be.

Is there a scenario where the Bruins would be comfortable trading him? Suppose Pasta decides to test free agency and it becomes obvious that the Bs are heading for a rebuild, do they sell him to help with the rebuild or keep him around during the rebuild?

Honestly, it's hard to quantify what he means to the Bruins and what his value is to them. He will most likely be inline to be the captain. Find 4 untradable players on your team and then add another 4 first round picks. That's his trade value

McAvoy is on year one of an 8 year deal. He will be in Boston for year two no matter who else is in Boston.

He is a good guy who remembers where he came from and will be a captain of the Bruins. If they are shitty for three years in the middle of his contract, so be it.

McAvoy is one of the few Bruins that I feel will be a Bruin for life, rebuild or not.
If he was not max extended, then an open mind could entertain a conversation.
He made his choice, wants Beantown, got Beantown, and isn't going anywhere.

And even if a McDavid, Draisatil or Matthews were made available in a deal and the ask would include McAvoy, that trio each would all be made available only b'c they are not extending further and want to test FA.
McAvoy max deal >>>> 1-2 yrs of McD/Drai/AM

Right. Unless s$)t hit the fan between him and management I don’t see the guy ever leaving during this contract.

8 years from now sure, maybe. But the ask would be so high a team would be nuts to give it up.

Hypothetically it would take all the picks, only joking a little. He’s just not available I would imagine. I think it would have to be an offer they just couldn’t refuse.

On top of everything else...

For awhile the B's were a distant 4th in the New England area, that even includes pre-Champion Patriots. They weren't talked about on sports talk radio, the 2 papers assigned their most junior reporters to cover them and devoted little space, the broadcast rights weren't great, the ratings weren't good and luxury boxes were unfilled. The people who say "BLOW IT ALL UP!!!" are people living in their own world where having a bottom-feeding team has no consequences.

The Bruins don't want to be that team again. They aren't going to tank or make themselves the worst team in the league on purpose.

Also, they aren't trading McAvoy.
