Because he's one of the best puck handling goalies in the league and they think they can beat the US's forecheck with that. He also had the 2nd highest GSAx in the league last season, so if that's underwhelming there are about 90 underwhelming goalies in the league.

He was 5th in gsax last season, not 2nd. So I guess we just need to cherry pick that and disregard this season.

It's funny reading comments made by players in this tournament and social media, then realizing that a guy like Brady Tkachuk will be heading back to the Ottawa Senators as their captain.
