Gotta love one of USA's best players getting hurt in a meaningless game.

Great tourney format. Would do again.

Listening to a convo on Overdrive talking about how the US is on the same level as Canada for development now. For what it's worth Canada still has way more 1st round draft picks last 5 years than US.

The fact that there's a debate at all suggests that it's closer than its ever been.

The trends show a consistent increase in the proportion of US NHL players and a decrease in the proportion of Canadian NHL players.

There's always room to improve and tweak our developmental system but at some point we will likely be surpassed unless hockey reaches some kind of saturation point in competition with all of the other sports in the US.

At the same time, Canadians are getting increasingly more involved in soccer and basketball (and not just recreationally anymore), which increases our competitiveness there but at the expense of our hockey.

Hockey is about to be on the biggest stage it's ever had. Please don't put up another 2-1 game. We need a 6-5 OT win.

People who haven't given a shit about hockey their entire lives have this game circles on their calendars.
Ahhh 6-5 the 1987 best of 3 final all over again.

Meanwhile here in Canada more of us tune into their elections than our own.

Probably because they have more impact on our lives.

The point others have made is that Canadians exercise a more reserved and quiet form of patriotism in keeping with our national character.

To deny that it exists, or that we have no national identity, is pretty harsh to be honest.

What kind of response would you expect from telling virtually any citizen in the world that they have no national identity?

I think one of the big things differences left is that Canada still produces generational type players. I think if the next McDavid/Crosby/Lemieux type player is American that could really change things.

For the last several major international tournaments and the ones in the near future, I think it's huge that Canada always has a least one guy like that in their lineup. Having two of them for tonight's game has got to give the team a lot of confidence.

Just counted and Canada has more than double the amount of first round picks last 5 years, not even remotely close

PK Subban is a clown

I will be rooting for Canada to win for the first time in a long time.

I will even cheer if Crosby scores.
