This is “okay” but I think they should re-seedIt's a fairly standard bracket but with draws providing some randomness.

I think the group stage is short/random enough that reseeding doesn't really matter much. This is “okay” but I think they should re-seed
Yes, they've lost each game they've played so far against pot 1 and 2 teams and drew a pot 3 team which means they've performed about how they should for a team near the middle of the bottom half of the table...which is exactly what they are.But PSG really hasn't "crapped" themselves this is just a moronic statement.
They beat the team they should have, except PSV (draw).
They lost to Arsenal, Bayern and Atletico which is "crapping themselves".
Blah blah pot x or pot y.Yes, they've lost each game they've played so far against pot 1 and 2 teams and drew a pot 3 team which means they've performed about how they should for a team near the middle of the bottom half of the table...which is exactly what they are.
Whining about the draw in a supposed best on best tournament because you've lost against every good team you've played is insanely weak stuff.
Consider the source. There's always an excuse for PSG disappointing.Yes, they've lost each game they've played so far against pot 1 and 2 teams and drew a pot 3 team which means they've performed about how they should for a team near the middle of the bottom half of the table...which is exactly what they are.

I respectfully disagree. I just don;t think there is enough incentivize finishing 1st. If you want to use LFC as an example, sure - they can finish with the best intro stage record and still get a rough draw. And this is after having arguably the worst draw for the intro round besides PSG. Now, maybe the bonus is that they can rest players for the last few games, but again shouldn't there be an incentive to finish top? Maybe its just me.I think the group stage is short/random enough that reseeding doesn't really matter much.
Unless Liverpool fall on their face, they're topping the table. So they'll playing 15-18 in R16. Right now that's Brugge, Benfica, Milan, or Real. But even if you guaranteed them the lowest remaining seed, that's currently PSG. Juve and Man City are only a point ahead of that.
Generally speaking the current format will have the top teams make at least the knockouts unless they crap themselves in the group stage (like PSG has and even then they'll likely still make it) and if they play well they'll get the bye straight into R16 although that depends a bit more on draw or having good form versus average form.
My point isn't that they shouldn't get an advantage, but that a simple reseed isn't really an advantage with how short the group stage is. The lowest remaining team after the knockouts could easily be PSG, Real or City.I respectfully disagree. I just don;t think there is enough incentivize finishing 1st. Let the #1 team pick their opponent. Then #2, etc. Let's have some funMy point isn't that they shouldn't get an advantage, but that a simple reseed isn't really an advantage with how short the group stage is. The lowest remaining team after the knockouts could easily be PSG, Real or City.
I'd be all for this. I wish big sports leagues would do it too.Let the #1 team pick their opponent. Then #2, etc. Let's have some fun
I get why they don't - talk about motivation - but it would be funI'd be all for this. I wish big sports leagues would do it too.
Yea they don't because you'd have teams constantly pick the lowest available seed for fear of making headlines and offending someone. But it would be entertainment.I get why they don't - talk about motivation - but it would be fun
I think this is such a poisoned chalice.Let the #1 team pick their opponent. Then #2, etc. Let's have some fun
Sure, but with anyone pretty much being anywhere, the lowest remaining seed is something in quantifiableMy point isn't that they shouldn't get an advantage, but that a simple reseed isn't really an advantage with how short the group stage is.
