Zibanejad gets benefit of the doubt for me.

108 point and 59 goal pace over 82 games 2 years ago

Last year split in 2.
First half: pace of 9 goals and 33 points over 82 games (27 actual games)
Second half: pace of 59 goals 110 points over 82 games (last 29 games)

A lot of talk about him suffering from Covid in first half. If true - it means that when healthy, that's 2 years straight he's scoring at a pace of ~59 goals/110 points. That's much better than Barzal imo.

Flipside is - overall last year, he was sub-ppg, if you don't give him benefit of doubt for first half of season.

You can twist the numbers as much as you want.

Barzal got a point on 28,8% of the Isles goals compared with Zibanejad who was involved in 28,2% of Rangers goals during the last season. And Barzal played with Komarov for the majority of the season.

Not sure if that’s much better than Barzal.

You have to factor in getting to play with Panarin on the PP, something Barzal doesn't get the benefit of.

ES scoring the past two seasons:
Zibanejad - 43 points in 57 games, 32 points in 56 games
Barzal - 48 points in 68 games, 37 points in 55 games

The major gap in production between the two is on the PP, where Zibanejad has Panarin QB'ing the PP. At even strength, they're roughly equal (Zibanejad slightly better two seasons ago, Barzal slightly better last season).
