Personally I would keep and re - sign him, I like his durability and solid defensive play. His offense has been very underwhelming, basically on par with Gavrikov

He flashed so much more offense in his first few years in Philly, but towards the end it dried up. He used to be one of the best in the NHL at getting chances downlow and in the slot for a defensemen but those days are behind him.

I think you’re missing the point. A late 1st this year is worth (roughly) a late 1st next year plus a 3rd. Sure, teams could add more, but then they’re paying more, so instead the offer becomes a 1st and a 2nd.

No, you're missing the point that Edmonton's offer is easily beatable by every team in the league by simply giving up this years first instead of next, so Edmonton will be the ones forced to overpay.

If the other team offers a 1st and 3rd, Edmonton will have to trade away two 1sts to match, and one of them is from 3 years away.

Still stuck in Forum 40
Still like Utah's chances. There is a need. He is friends with Sergachev. There will be an influx of Russians prospects next season in Utah. Utah has good prospects if CBJ would rather not wait that long for a 1st to develop.
They could offer Allard, Lavoie, and a '26 2nd which may be more appealing than a lowly 1st, and still offer more...

Moncton, NB
Depends on who is looking at him... Florida, Montreal, New York Rangers, and Vancouver all seem like teams who would be interested.

Okay, here's a good rule of thumb to go with:
If your proposal has two assets going to the Jackets for Jiricek, it's already at best on life support. More than two and we stop returning your calls. We already have metric f***tons of Prospect Depth, and we left the "gather assets" phase of rebuilds years ago. Meet Current Needs or GTFO.

I mean, a 1st doesn't mean a 1st I think it just means 1st round value. Oilers could get creative to make it work. Prospects, first next year, they have the picks they got from the Blues, etc.

2026 1st and Blues 3rd this year for Provorov 50% probably gets it done

They wouldn’t even have to retain 50% he’s already got partial retention on his contract. Oilers could definitely make an offer work.
