I still believe you can make Provorov work as he’s only 26 and unless he’s got completely unrealistic demands. If we can sign him for $5-6m AAV that’s an incredible deal. He’s not exactly lighting the league on fire to demand more and we have tons of cap space so why not use it on a guy who’s already proven himself in the current system.

If that's all it takes then I'm in agreement that we ought to sign him. I suspect the actual number will be higher.

Provorov's cap hit is 6,75 M AAV without any retention.

His is entering his big UFA summer at the age of 28.

Proven all-situations workhorse like that will get atleast "Brady Skjei UFA money" which was 7y x 7M AAV this summer.

That would be too much for us.
Yep, came here to say something similar. 7 x $7M is where I was thinking the number would start. Last big payout of his career and cap has gone up big time since his last contract, teams are gonna have cash to burn. (I don't think it goes over $8M but $5M - $6M seems delusional and $6M - $7M unlikely)

I wouldn't be surprised if someone threw 8.5 at him. Which would be a mistake.

But he signed that previous contract as Flyers 1D, he’s no longer in that role

I do agree he might ask for $7mx7, but anything more than that is certainly too much

the cap is going up quite a bit. he's in line for at least the brady skjei contract, and i think he's a much better player. also younger than skjei was this summer.

Maybe there is interest in keeping him. I assumed going into the season the dollars wouldn't work out even in the best case scenario, plus Jiricek and Mateychuk pushing. With Jiricek out and a mountain of cap space I could see a future where he stays if he takes a relatively friendly deal. Maybe we can resign him after a trade and get best of both worlds if he really wants to be part of the team.

personally i'd rather bring gavrikov back if he hits the market (won't be as pricy + fills a bigger need as a defensively-focused guy rather than a true two-way like provy)

that said… don waddell LOVES guys who are good in the room, and provorov clearly is. still think they trade him but i wonder if he's left a strong enough mark that they'd look to circle back this summer.

A trade is incoming? Or someone getting scratched
clearly jarmo loved tarasov but i don't think waddell feels the same way. wouldn't be surprised to see him on waivers at some point this year.

i think this is them giving greaves an audition to be the backup next year. if it doesn't go well i think they'll have an entirely new set of goalies next season.

I guess this means Chinny might still be out for awhile. Really wish we had a little more insight into his injury. I love the way the kid plays but he is starting to nudge his way into the "injury prone" label. Third year in a row he is starting to rack up the missed games.

I still have no idea what happened to him. Upper body? Lower body?
