I think Marchenko is a "core piece" who I would not trade under any circumstances. I would offer Chinakov instead.

Fantilli-Chinakhov-Marchenko-Johnson

And Mateychuk, even though some people will say he hasn’t proven anything or isn’t an NHL player…

Should all be looked at essentially all the same. Different players, but, easily all legitimate “core” players moving forward. We have MORE than enough cap space where we would be better off signing a high end UFA or look to make trades using our future 1sts.

What makes Marchenko a core piece, and not Chinakhov??

He may not meet the definition of “core piece” but Voronkov is a guy I’m not trading unless it’s a Godfather Offer - one I can’t refuse.

I essentially just left him out on accident. While he may not have the overall offensive ceiling as the other guys, he’s obviously a completely different player who adds things NONE of the other guys do. I’m on record saying he should be looked at as no different than the other Russian’s, while in the end he might just be worth a tad less.

Looking at these guys together, it’s such a more versatile and skilled group of young forwards than we’ve ever had. I think Fantill/Johnson/Voronkov can make a very interesting and GOOD “Top 6 C” group looking deep into the future, and this is without even talking about Lindstrom.

You’re talking about trading Fantilli or Chinakhov??

Controversial isn’t the word…..
The point is moot, they would never trade Fantilli. I am a little disappointed with how he's started this year though. He's finding his game little by little though.

So while we don't know exactly what Cole's injury was, the clip where he got kicked in the head makes me wonder if he's coming back too fast if that is what the injury was.

Chris Olave got a concussion in New Orleans, missed a game, came back and promptly got knocked out cold the next game back.
